Pros

Pay is the only positive.

Cons

Management uses fear tactics to scare employees. Way too many middle managers and not enough news staff. Worked there for years and never even talked to or saw the President of the company. Each floor is like a different level of society and the management treats it as such. People who work downstairs get paid the least and have to pay for vending machine snacks while anyone who has an office upstairs has a fridge stocked with free food and drinks. Leaders of the company and upper management are inaccessible to people who work downstairs. You need a key card entry to access the upper level where most of the management works. The “my door is always open” policy does not exist. The most toxic work environment I’ve ever experienced. There were 7 different news directors in my time there. The most recent was let go and then brought back because they couldn’t keep anyone else. SO Dysfunctional. Took a pay cut to get out. No amount of money is worth working here.

Pros

- traffic coordinators are solid

Cons

It’s hard to ignore the downward trajectory of this company. The final straw for me was when they eliminated bereavement leave, yet still allocated time and resources for an in-house podcast led by individuals with close personal ties to the CEO. Wages, benefits, communication, and internal systems have all been steadily declining. Leadership tends to prioritize vanity projects and executives brought in from outside markets, while the core operations — the actual station — is the only thing still somewhat profitable. The imbalance between those doing the real work and those receiving the accolades and budget is impossible to miss.
