Pros
I've been working at WEF for over 10 years, and recently read some of the 'reviews'. Honestly I can't figure out what is going on with some so-called seasoned employees. I can guess who a few of them are though because they have whined for years instead of just doing their jobs. My WEF world is one where I work hard and don't succumb to the water-cooler gossip -- in fact, I try to ask for specifics when someone comes to me with issues, and they just can't articulate the issues. They are the ones dragging down the culture. Not the leadership.
I know the Executive Director and all deputies - and they are about the most genuine group you'll ever find leading a non-profit. There are so many pros at this organization -- work place, teams, good pay, caring leadership, exciting, highly successful yearly event that takes all of us! Perhaps the middle-management, long-term whiners should take a hike and see what really terrible leadership is!! If you are so miserable at WEF, just leave and the rest of us and WEF will be much better off when you're gone!!
Cons
Just the small group of whiners who continue to exhibit selfish and demeaning behavior. If I were king (or in this case queen since our executive director is a woman) I'd clean house!!! I will agree on one item I read, and that is the Board can be slightly in the weeds. There have been past presidents that should have not been chosen to lead and had us all running in circles instead of lifting their heads out of the weeds and trying to think strategically. Honestly I don't think they could because they this is the highest position they have ever held and just weren't trained to hold such a 'job'.
