Poor upper management overshadows company’s potential - Assistant WKT Public Relations Employee Review

Pros

The small size of the company allows for a range of opportunities that might not be available at a larger firm. Entry-level employees are able to interact closely with clients and really learn and internalize the day-to-day business of talent PR. Assistants are given the opportunity to attend lots of premieres, photo shoots, and other press events.

Cons

The treatment of entry-level employees is absolutely abhorrent. There is little to no training provided for new employees, yet questions are heavily discouraged and even tiny, inconsequential errors result in very public verbal attacks. Upper management is not invested in entry-level assistants’ growth within the company in the slightest. The work environment is hostile, toxic, and extremely competitive. Even employees who work on the same account are catty and gossipy rather than collaborative. No wonder there is such a high turnover rate.

Pros

The company is boutique so you get plenty of options to closely interact with clients and form relationships. No better place to get numb to the workplace abuse common in the entertainment industry. Sets you up for incredible attention to detail in future positions. Annett Wolf, the company's founding partner, is a great role model, expects a lot but is very fair.

Cons

There is no effort to inspire entry-level employees, no room for growth until you have been in an assistant position for at least 2.5 years. Absolutely no work/life balance for entry-level employees. Minuscule errors result in tear-jerking public tear downs by upper management. The overall experience and work environment was hostile and catty.
