      Pros

      Lots of freebies and swag to take home.

      Cons

      Assistants treated very poorly and many are fired for miniscule mistakes. I was hired with a relevant bachelor's degree, worked at the company for 1.5 years and can't say I learned much about the world of personal publicity. In fact, when I specifically asked for learning opportunities I was shut down. It felt more like working in a sorority where people were judged by their looks and ability to be "gophers" versus critical thinking skills, willingness to learn, and work ethic. Not a positive or team-like environment but rather incredibly fake and phony.

      Poor upper management overshadows company’s potential

      Pros

      The small size of the company allows for a range of opportunities that might not be available at a larger firm. Entry-level employees are able to interact closely with clients and really learn and internalize the day-to-day business of talent PR. Assistants are given the opportunity to attend lots of premieres, photo shoots, and other press events.

      Cons

      The treatment of entry-level employees is absolutely abhorrent. There is little to no training provided for new employees, yet questions are heavily discouraged and even tiny, inconsequential errors result in very public verbal attacks. Upper management is not invested in entry-level assistants’ growth within the company in the slightest. The work environment is hostile, toxic, and extremely competitive. Even employees who work on the same account are catty and gossipy rather than collaborative. No wonder there is such a high turnover rate.
