Pros

Great responsibility given from the start. You are really stuck in the deep end and expected to get on with it. So you will learn alot quickly in this role. Opportunities in whatever interests you is endless. Senior members are really open and approachable. Very little sense of hierarchy.

Cons

Stuck in the deep end can also be a bad thing, as you’re expected to do high level work even if you have little experience and technical knowledge. A very ‘swim or sink’ environment. That being said, if you are stuck on a piece of work, people are happy to guide you, and feedback is very detailed for you to learn and progress. Very long work hours, advertise as having a great work life balance but this is definitely not true. Be prepared to cancel plans last minute as you may get a request at 5pm for a work that takes several hours. This happens regularly. For an organisation that specialises in HR consultancy, pay is very under market (especially considering the extra hours you have to work, they even try and avoid increasing you pay in line with inflation), career progression is very slow (you can remain as an analyst for 2-3 years with no pay rise) and annual bonus is a joke (expect no more than £500) The above two points result in a high turnover, within the executive compensation department and when someone leaves, they dont hire a replacement, instead they pass on the extra work to you. Leading to higher workloads. Very top heavy. Their are approximately 10 directors, 3 senior consultants and 3 analysts. And as analysts do most of the groundwork be expected to work on a lot of projects

Pros

Paycheck is great, people to work with are generally very intelligent, positive and professional. Many positions are work from home or at least hybrid. Continuous learning is encouraged. Since the company is technically British, it is very inclusive and has several networks to ensure inclusion (although some such as the menopause support group are UK based which isn't surprising as the US doesn't typically care about such things though they should).

Cons

The workload is often insane to put it mildly. You are expected to sort of "do everything". When you are encouraged to speak up if you have too much work, they pretty much tell you "well you just have to figure out how to get it done because we have to give you more work". There is blatant favoritism. Those who are liked are praised for giving detailed answers on calls and granted a month off of PTO while those not as well liked get grilled when they ask for one day off and are told "not to overthink" when they try to provide detailed answers.
