Washington County genuinely values its employees

It can be challenging to move from private sector to public if you’ve never worked in a government job.

I loved my job. I worked with great people and had a great supervisor. The team I was on offered a lot of scheduling flexibility so I had an excellent work/life balance. The program I worked for does great work for the public.

Compensation for work was a touch low. Lack of opportunities to advance. Lack of opportunities to be reclassified due to Limited Duration status (a part of advancement concern). It is unclear when classification and compensation structures will be revised and implemented. The work is in progress. A revised system may help fix some of the issues I had.
