Disengaged Leadership and a Long-Term Culture of Stagnation - Sales & Marketing Weidenhammer Systems Employee Review

Pros

The clients can be interesting, and the projects can be creative and exciting, and some colleagues are talented and collaborative, but the overall experience is overshadowed by poor management and a lack of purpose. For professionals looking to grow their careers in the industry, I would recommend exploring other firms that prioritize leadership development, employee engagement, and long-term success.

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had hoped for in a supposed leader in technology consulting. For a prospective employee looking into the company, they do not pay market value for its employees. The company is well known for that fact in the industry. So if someone is in the market looking for a new role, they would be last on the list. The pay gap is considerable. The biggest issue lies in the leadership— particularly from the CEO. Rather than inspiring confidence and clarity, the CEO often appeared disengaged from day-to-day operations and disconnected from the realities employees face. Strategic direction was inconsistent, and priorities seemed to shift frequently without explanation or rationale. This lack of stable, visionary leadership set the tone for the rest of the executive team and created an environment of uncertainty and frustration. Communication is inconsistent, transparency is lacking, and feedback is rarely welcomed — creating a culture where employees feel undervalued and unheard. Opportunities for career development are virtually nonexistent. There is no clear path for advancement, no meaningful mentorship, and little investment in employee skill-building or long-term growth. This stagnant environment makes it difficult to stay motivated or envision a future at the company.

Pros

Management let's you get the job done without micromanaging. Most of the company is remote but there's an office available in PA if you want that as an option. Everyone is nice here, there are no jerks.

Cons

Growing and working on building out processes for managing projects, it can sometimes be unstructured.

Pros

In an unstable market with mass layoffs and gross mismanagement by execs, John Weidenhammer continues to lead the company he founded in 1978 with integrity, wisdom, and what some might say "old school" values and work ethic. Hammer's business-to-human approach is validated every day by unsolicited client thanks and testimonials, and proven by the unusually long tenure of both our clients and employees.

Cons

'Old school' can result in legacy paradigms, tools, and operations that are being addressed and improved on. Stability from being fiscally conservative means you will be fairly but never over paid as is the case with many tech companies throwing money at problems and then laying off its people when they persist. While a positive, the long tenure of employees can also lead to bias and 'always done that way' mindsets with limited external context of advances being made outside of the company. This requires change, and people are inherently change averse.
