Pros

Interesting work, decent benefits, some really good people.

Cons

If you want to get ahead, it is rarely based on how you do your job, it's who you are friends with. The boys club network is very alive at WU, at least in compliance. Is every department in compliance like that? No, in some of them it only matters if you are willing to work tons of extra hours for no extra pay, and kiss up to certain people. I did work with some great people here. I also worked in a position that I loved, and was very good at - only to have to leave that department and position because I was told I would never get promoted, because the Director's buddy was going to get it instead (and that my experience didn't matter). And, mine is not the first or last story to have that ending. Finally, just know that as a compliance employee, you will be treated as a minion/peasant by the CEO and his people. After all, they all went to a brand new glitzy building, and stuck compliance a mile away in an old building that has seen better days. Salary and bonus %'s will vary by who you know and, depending on the department in compliance, what your gender is. And yes, the CCO is aware of all of this and chooses to not do anything about it.

Thank you for your feedback. I am disappointed to hear about your experience and want you to know that we have worked hard to build a culture where employees can share ideas in all areas of our Company. Compliance is an essential part of our business and the function’s ability to operate with independence is a core strength. Our move has improved our visibility as a leading employer in Denver and significantly upgraded our work environment. Both of our new locations were designed and built to the same progressive standards and principles. They foster camaraderie, promote connectivity, and fuel our passion for innovation. Company performance is the key driver for bonuses throughout the organization, with additional recognition for individual contributions, capabilities and behaviors. While your post is confidential, I take your concerns seriously and would welcome the opportunity to discuss further. - Richard Williams, CHRO

Pros

Exciting time at a company in growth mode where your contributions make a big impact. Clear strategy in the digital, consumer services, and retail space and great people, teams, and leaders bringing it to life in the last year. Meaningful work and actually puts good in the world. Everything we deliver helps people and communities that faced challenges and lack of access / opportunities for generations. Not only do you get to focus on new tech but also what you deliver truly makes a difference in people’s lives. You’re not just serving ads or making rich people richer, you’re helping folks support their families, empower growth in developing nations, create a more connected world where people care for one another. Great growth opportunities and recognition from senior leaders in global forums.

Cons

Small groups negative people that are not open to change, evolution, new ideas but you will find that at any company and not just Western Union. The vast majority of people here are excited for where we are and the direction we are going.
