No Real Communication STILL - Anonymous employee Wheels Up Employee Review

There is a significant lack of real communication across the company. Management consistently obfuscates the issues facing the company to their own employees. The messaging is regularly “way to go, we’re meeting our goals” etc but the reality on the ground seems to be management making a decision that looks good, but makes little fiscal sense in the long term. There is a tendency towards reactive leadership, eg firing pilots when there are too many then immediately opening up pilot vacancies because there are suddenly too few pilots. That management culture trickles down into policy where there is a tendency to micro manage office workers and line pilots in an effort to be “safe and efficient” but the reality of the policies in effect is adding layers to an already complex communication and operational structure. Office departments do not know what each other department is doing at any given time resulting in schedule confusion, logistical shortfalls (eg hotels, rental cars, client particulars), maintenance coordination issues and other myriad problems at the operational level. There are even instances where flight crews have been left to their own devices at unattended airfields in near freezing temperatures with no known way out of the secure area and minimal transportation options available. Compensation is sub-standard with multi year positions being paid the same as entry level positions at other industry companies. This trend does not appear to include the upper management positions’ salary however. Career advancement is stunted due to limited positions being available and few promotion opportunities available.
