Pros

The interior of the gallery is quite pleasant and two of my colleagues were as nice as they could be given the circumstances of our employment. If you can handle the pressure and will do whatever it takes you can make money through commission.

Cons

Completely unrealistic targets and a company culture of vicious dishonest sales tactics that attempt to peddle utterly worthless pieces of artwork to clients as "investments". I had the unfortunate experience of accidentally speaking to several old clients on the phone who had invested huge sums of their own money into artwork which they then found out to be worthless in the actual art market. This is not like a normal sales job, I felt that I was being forced to harass people and pressure into sales. The artists themselves are held into strict contracts and most of the work is reproductions of various similar works. There is also a flood of new work which further causes to decrease the value. If you are considering working here I would whole heartedly tell you not to.

Pros

I worked at Whitewall galleries for 4 years, in that time I had exceptional mentors, and a amazing team. This is a company that cares about their employees and there is unlimited opportunity for growth, should you wish to move into different avenues within the company. They care about their clients and go over and beyond to make their staff happy. In my experience it is the individuals who come in with catty bad attitudes that turn over quickly as that type of mentality is not tolerated. Hard work is 100% expected but you are given time to develop your skills and frequent training and feedback is offered.

Cons

Starting pay is slightly low but a great commission structure compensates that straightway. Generous raises are given once you put in your time as they value hard working staff.

Pros

Nice environment to work in in visually, no uniform and nice clients

Cons

High sales targets, slightly odd head office culture with a tendency to push rather than encourage. Limited editions not really limited editions ie continuous slightly altered runs. I personally had a conscience crisis selling these - good for tough nuts with no ethics
