Pros

Some nice associates but this is not attributable to the company or it’s hiring practices.

Cons

Training: -Inadequate across the board: data training solely uses Simplilearn and other low-level companies and trainers. Software training is also subpar and you could do better through self learning, particularly since hiring in software is more competency based rather than certificate hunting. Change training is with a good trainer but the qualification isn’t the best or most well known one. Employment prospects -Sales duo is completely detached from reality and propagates unrepresentative projections. Even worse, they shift the blame to associates even though the whole company is built upon the founder’s connections. Complete lack of communication. -The work ‘on the bench’ (without client placement) does not help you prepare for real work and the day your formal training finishes your skills diminish daily. You get paid below london living wage whilst having to work as if it’s a real job otherwise the sales team don’t like you and it’s all over at that point. -Business change (rebranded to Transformation) has ZERO employment prospects, roughly 25% got placements in a 9 month timescale -Even though the company has some big 4 people, it is not in any way comparable -The non-associate team views you as disposable and do not appreciate you at all People management: -We have a few small awards for things like culture and employee development programmes but we don’t even have an employee development programme- these ‘awards’ are just essentially paid for and mean nothing. The fact it’s a B corp just devalues what a B corp is. -Essentially, the team do not care about you at all, apart from how much they can exploit you for profit. -CEO is a great orator but that just means he can manipulate you -Massive training fee repayments, you’re trapped if you accept that contract -No feedback or way to improve, team has no capacity to provide it -If they want to fire you, they don’t give notice and don’t even really need good reasons other than wanting to save money because they can’t actually sell you to a client -Not very inclusive, just tokenism

Thanks for your feedback! We’re extremely sorry that your time with us didn't work out. We’re a growing start-up that’s only been operating for less than 2 years and we recognise all feedback as an opportunity for self-improvement as we continue to grow as a business. We still have plenty of room for improvement - we accept this and are relishing the challenge! Purpose is the key driving force of our company, and at the heart of it is our people. We have already achieved B Corporation status and have received several industry awards – yes, we had to pay for our entry fees, that’s how it works, and we were awarded by a judging panel of industry experts. We already offer an awesome experience for our Associates, and we intend to make it even better! Here’s how:  From September 2022 we will be bringing our training programmes in-house, delivered by industry-leading technical trainers.  Our expanding People team means we will be able to strengthen the care and support our Associates receive whilst on a client placement.  We have introduced a Performance Management Framework to identify how Associates can improve and identify areas of focus for support such as further training.  Plans are underway to improve our “on-the-bench” environment, so that Associates can dedicate more time to skills-focused projects, hackathons and preparing for client engagements.  To add to our collaborative and inclusive culture, we have introduced an Associate forum and a DE&I council which will have Associate representation.  Associates will receive regular updates from the solutions team about new placement opportunities.  Finally, we are in the process of introducing Senior Consultant opportunities for Associates beyond their first two years at Xander! We’re also taking this opportunity to respond to some of the claims which we feel may be misleading to any readers. Employee Dismissals No former employee of Xander has ever been dismissed from their role without warning – period. Everyone received a feedback session with a senior member of staff who established a performance improvement framework and since then we have waived their training fees and offered them all professional references. Training Fees We’ve made a sizeable investment in each of our Associates for them to gain market-leading training. Whilst our competitors charge extortionate and unethical training fees of around £15k if an employee terminates their contract early, our Associate’s training fees are considerably less and are reduced every day they are with us until the end of their two years. This is consistent across many companies who offer training on the job and our recent staff survey showed our approach to be fair and reasonable. Placements We work tirelessly to secure Associates a client placement that matches their career objectives. We have introduced several clients in the past 12 months, from boutique start-ups to world-leading consultancies and companies and continue to work extremely hard to secure interviews for Associates with top clients. We go above and beyond to ensure that Associates are fully prepared for client technical tests and interviews, with one of our Data Analytics Associates having recently cited: “Xander were extremely supportive and guided me through the technical tests and interview process, helping me to understand what was required. Prior to the interview they helped me to practice my responses to questions, giving me the best chance of success.” Salary After their training, Associates receive the London Living Wage of £21k per annum. Not all businesses in our space provide this to “on the bench” employees and we are extremely proud that we are able to support them during the current economic climate. Once Associates secure their client placements, they receive a competitive salary of 28-32k per annum depending on their role and their time with us. We’ve done our research, and we know this is an extremely competitive salary for a grassroots position! Bench Time We have experienced increased bench time due to prolonged onboarding processes of our clients and the pandemic, but we have made significant strides to reduce this. We have already placed several Associates with a client before or upon the completion of their training and we have several multi-Associate placements in the pipeline which will guarantee Associates will transition from training to onboarding with the client immediately. Associates have been continually encouraged to allocate a portion of their week to upskilling, which Xander covers the costs for, and have been exposed to several internal project related to their new skillset, helping to nurture their communication and project management skills – skills that are crucial for a consulting environment. We are extremely pleased to see that our former employees have gone on to secure new employment with the qualifications obtained through Xander, and we wish them the best of luck in their new role.

Pros

Nice people in cohort. Good training. Some members of the core team were nice.

Cons

They make you write these glassdoor reviews while you're there as part of the 'Branding project'...which is why there are contrasting reviews. You won't get paid during your training, but will still be charged if you decide to leave. You get paid on awful wage while on the bench, where you will likely be there for a while. You will be given many useless tasks, nothing to do with what you are there to do, yet will get more cohorts in. They say they only get rid of people due to performance, but multiple ex-employees have said they received no warning. I was on the 3rd cohort and there were people from the 1st cohort ho hadn't been placed. They said it was because they didn't perform, but most people have said it was because they were putting them up for roles that they did not sign up for. The worst part of the experience, by far, are the sales staff, especially the two leading (male and female member of staff). They hardly interact with you, apart from when they want to tell you that you're not doing enough to get placed (even though this is their job, what they are paid to do). They complain that we are not being visible, but when we try to speak to them, they are busy. They even asked a few members of the cohort to reach out to people on linkedin and try getting placed...basically their whole job, and then blamed those people for not getting placed. I'm not sure what they do, apart from make a few cold calls, tell the team the same list of clients they are in contact with and then spend time gossiping to other members about how bad the cohorts are. The CEO and COO who seem like decent people need to take a look at their sales staff and how they behave and conduct themselves. They are not doing the key part of their job, finding clients and placing people, while blaming the people who they are supposed to help. If they are asking members of the cohort to find the client and finding themselves the placement, for them to get the commission...what do they do exactly?

Hello, Thank you for your feedback! This has been passed on to our senior leadership, who is always committed to make Xander better. We pride ourselves in the unique environment that we have created at Xander and are disappointed that your experience didn’t match our ambitions. Our goal is to ensure all consultants have a unique learning experience during their two years and are set for continued future success. Whilst we have experienced some prolonged base time during your time with us, this has since been addressed by investing in our client onboarding team, which has reduced consultant’s time between completing their training and starting their client placement further. We have also made several improvements to our base environment, ensuring consultants’ time is dedicated to further training, completing work-related technical projects, and preparing for interviews. Our sales team work tirelessly to bring new opportunities and ensuring that client placements are a good fit for our people and match their career goals. We are proud of the work they do whilst recognising that it sadly is not always possible to secure the right match for our consultants. We trust that your technical training will provide you with great future opportunities and wish you all the best in your next adventure! The Xander Team
