Pros

Good budget, they'll always be profitable. Not that it helps the employees. But they won't be shutting the doors anytime soon.

Cons

Ignore the 5 star reviews, they are clearly faked. That is exact type of behavior I'd expect from the management of this company. Completely dysfunctional, tons of nepotism. The dev team (inner circle) is all subcontracted by one individual, so they hired their friends and family. Horrifically amateur coding practice, but because of this relationship every decision that splits between them (the inner circle) and anyone outside of that circle will be decided in their favor. Business as usual at XpressBet. As you can imagine there is very high turnover here. A little background, the Beaverton office has two "classes" of employees. The tellers, who are largely part time, answer the phones. The other "class" is the professional IT workers. There is very little mingling of the two groups. In the IT camp, there are NOC workers, who are entry to mid level tech employees who monitor the network. There is a constant stream of people through this department because they are treated like crap and used as scapegoats. Take this job as a last resort and don't plan on being happy while you are there. Behind a closed door (literally) there is the other group, which is the "skilled" IT workers - Network engineers and UNIX admins. They really aren't treated much better than the NOC employees, and there is a pretty steady stream of people coming and going as well. Pay is decent but expect to get treated completely unprofessionally on a routine basis. Favorite employees are routinely picked, but don't get too excited, it's always rotating. People are played against each other. If you are the type of person who can stomach this toxicity and don't mind putting up with it, you can befriend the inner circle and if you are lucky you can last a while and possibly even be treated well. Everyone else tends to burn out in bitter misery. Some of the flame outs can be amusing but really not in a good way. There is a lot of bitterness amongst everyone, although the smarter employees are quiet about it. People with good judgement do not stick around. People who thrive in toxicity and play politics to cover for lack of competence end up staying a bit longer. Cumulative effect is exactly as you'd imagine.

Pros

Not in a terrible location, on bus/wes line. The subject matter is pretty cool. Awesome management Staff!!! they listen, they are real people with realistic expectations of you. The goals are mostly attainable. The place feels like a "family" and it is by far the best place i have had a job.

Cons

First, this job is repetitive and isn't for everyone, aside from that its relatively easy if you are accustomed to call center work. This past year though, more and more and more responsibilities have been added with zero increase in pay. The size of the management staff appears to be shrinking so we have less support if we need it and the stress on them shows. Also, I am sometimes expected to speak with and become a customer service rep for high end customers (think millions of dollars bet) I was never told this during my interview and it was dumped on me with zero increase in pay and zero actual customer service training. Most recently they healthcare benefits are changing and coverage is going down while price is going up. We had our best kentucky derby ever and we get rewarded by getting even less pay. The worst part is upon hire you have to sign a document that says you are required to have their health insurance and pay all the costs, but never disclose this until after 90 days how much money they will be taking from you.
