Pros

Good budget, they'll always be profitable. Not that it helps the employees. But they won't be shutting the doors anytime soon.

Cons

Ignore the 5 star reviews, they are clearly faked. That is exact type of behavior I'd expect from the management of this company. Completely dysfunctional, tons of nepotism. The dev team (inner circle) is all subcontracted by one individual, so they hired their friends and family. Horrifically amateur coding practice, but because of this relationship every decision that splits between them (the inner circle) and anyone outside of that circle will be decided in their favor. Business as usual at XpressBet. As you can imagine there is very high turnover here. A little background, the Beaverton office has two "classes" of employees. The tellers, who are largely part time, answer the phones. The other "class" is the professional IT workers. There is very little mingling of the two groups. In the IT camp, there are NOC workers, who are entry to mid level tech employees who monitor the network. There is a constant stream of people through this department because they are treated like crap and used as scapegoats. Take this job as a last resort and don't plan on being happy while you are there. Behind a closed door (literally) there is the other group, which is the "skilled" IT workers - Network engineers and UNIX admins. They really aren't treated much better than the NOC employees, and there is a pretty steady stream of people coming and going as well. Pay is decent but expect to get treated completely unprofessionally on a routine basis. Favorite employees are routinely picked, but don't get too excited, it's always rotating. People are played against each other. If you are the type of person who can stomach this toxicity and don't mind putting up with it, you can befriend the inner circle and if you are lucky you can last a while and possibly even be treated well. Everyone else tends to burn out in bitter misery. Some of the flame outs can be amusing but really not in a good way. There is a lot of bitterness amongst everyone, although the smarter employees are quiet about it. People with good judgement do not stick around. People who thrive in toxicity and play politics to cover for lack of competence end up staying a bit longer. Cumulative effect is exactly as you'd imagine.

Pros

The location of the Beaverton was easy to commute to. On big race days we would get free food and sodas. Night shifts were easy. PTO allowance was average. The inner NOC circle was good. For a time we worked 4x10. Had a few contests were money and even trips were offered.

Cons

I worked in the NOC for 4 years. Most of the time it was shear terror due to never knowing if you are going to get yelled at, belittled or praised. If you were on their good side life was good but if you got into the lazer beams you would be watched and any small mistake was blow out of proportion. High nepotism where family or friends could do whatever they wanted with out an issue. Only time I ever got a review was to be scolded even though I worked there for several years. When on salary I was oncall 24/7 and during slow times if you needed to leave early you had to take PTO but if you worked an extra day no comp-time was offered and prevented if you tried to take it. During my time there we were never at full staff due to high turnover. Another writer talks about flame-outs this is a true statement.

Pros

Great people at the employee level. Good comradary among the NOC. Great communication between departments of Production, Network IT and Infrastructure.

Cons

Management is the issue here. Namely the CTO. She is as rude and obnoxious as they come. Make no mistake that you have no higher power to speak to once she has a problem with you. Public shaming is a constant when a mistake is made by anyone in any department. Entire departments are in the "doghouse" when just one makes a mis-step. Improper handling of time off requests as well as poor and/or reluctance to pay overtime. HIGH STRESS each day.
