Pros

Despite being $5B+ with 17k+ employees globally, Xylem is a very entrepreneurial company. Continuous improvement is a big part of our culture. Honesty, respect and integrity are non-negotiable here. Big (and genuine) push to being the best, most diverse and inclusive company we can be. Strong growth potential for those who work hard, invest in development and are upfront about their career goals and ambitions (I am an alum of Xylem's mobility program). Work-life balance is important... first company I have worked at that has executives openly putting out-of-office messages during the holidays that they are spending time with family, not checking email, so please call if it is urgent otherwise the message will be responded to in the new year - this was eye-opening to me (in a good way)... made me feel like my family time is valued. Not sure about all businesses, but the business unit I support embraces and appreciates HR and I have a true seat at the table. Lastly, it is meaningful to me that I am part of a company that is making the world a better place. Sustainability is a huge part of our mission and culture.

Cons

Like most companies in growth mode, we have had some growing pains along the way. At times in the past, direction has been unclear, but management is making a very strong effort (with results) to steer the ship in the right direction and embrace the 'One Xylem' approach, and employees are generally receptive to and understanding of this. We are making the right investments to position ourselves to be a dominant force in our industry for a long time.

Pros

Good pay, unlimited PTO, and the occasional free lunch when leadership is in town. There are also volunteer activities available if you want to get involved.

Cons

Only 12 paid holidays, and Veterans Day and MLK Day aren’t included. Expectations shift constantly, creating rework, wasted effort, and frequent overtime that leads to burnout. The environment is highly political, with a small group gatekeeping information, unclear ownership, and perception often outweighing results. The business is volatile, with heavy, frequent restructures and ongoing headcount cuts. Technology and systems are outdated, processes aren’t documented, and training/onboarding is weak. The culture leans toward a boys’ club, and it’s easy to feel sidelined or disrespected—so you’ll need a thick skin. Decisions are driven by short‑term goals, and the future often feels uncertain.
