Pros

Catered lunch a few times a week. Start-up environment. Fully stocked kitchen.

Cons

"Bro"-culture. Lots of "cliques" and no friendliness between employees. Not flexible in terms of hours, no 'working from home'. Work life balance is not great. You work from 9 am to 6 pm (nobody ever leaves before 6pm or the CEO has comments about it). Weekly happy-hours and company activities all include drinking. and more drinking. Gossip among employees creates a feeling of being in high school. Not a lot of place to grow professionally. You are expected to compromise for a lower salary, just because it's a startup...

Zumper Response

Appreciate your feedback. I'm sincerely sorry you felt people were not friendly at Zumper. We take pride in organizing team events that encourage team members to get to know others outside of their immediate teams, and engage in activities other than drinking (i.e. games, painting/art, karaoke, intramural sports, trivia, etc.). While our team members work hard, we empower our managers to manage their team however they see fit, including work flexibility . We also launched our L&D program in 2019 and now have a structured goal setting process to assist with individual growth and development. Finally, our compensation package is aligned with market data, and includes equity as well as a very competitive benefits package. Once again, I'm sorry you did not have a positive experience while working at Zumper and appreciate your candid feedback. We will continue to improve our work environment.

Pros

Some very fun, talented people. Good benefits and work/life balance

Cons

Zumper is in a bad position. They're rapidly losing market share (and relevance) and have really no idea how they're gonna turn the ship around. They're very reactive, are constantly being outperformed and out-innovated, all while laying off the employees that could help them make a difference. They're pinning all of their hopes on being acquired, but after a year and a half of searching, they still have no buyers. At this point, I'd put my money on them going bankrupt. If you're thinking about accepting a job offer from there, be prepared to be looking for another job soon.
