Pros

- international workplace - most employees are easy to get along with - nice office - easy to reach by reach by public transport.

Cons

- incompetent, hypocritical and unprofessional higher management who does not understand what the organisation stands for (sustainability) - high staff turnover- most employees with a passion for sustainability have left the organisation - dysfunctional, as management wastes money on high management salaries and consultants; salaries for 'normal' staff are rather low - limited growth opportunities - management is obsessed with constant restructuring of their workforce, when staff is leaving, without taking personal skills into consideration - no formal performance reviews have taken place within the last couple of years - 15% of staff were dismissed in mid 2020 under the pretext of consequences of the Corona crisis; the criteria for dismissal were not made clear to the current staff; they decided to dismiss vulnerable employees, e.g. age, serious illness and pregnancy, some of the staff belonged to the 20% of longest serving staff. Don't bother applying, it's a waste of time!

Pros

Colleagues of the teams are very nice, down to earth, and talented. I have a great time with them and could learn a lot from working together. The Brussels office is located on Avenue Tervuren and it's a very nice area with great infrastructure. For an NGO you receive quite good money

Cons

- I can't speak for all managers, but some are extremely toxic and downright abusive. Talking with other colleagues, i know a manager made a lady cry after downright abusive statements. Higher management does not seem to care, and only seem interested in themselves and their own positions, while not helping out the team. - In some teams, Management does not care about you growing as a person and or/ into different roles. You are hired to do your job and nothing else. Motivation to improve the organization and processes is stunted / hijacked by the managers for their own self-interest. When i suggested a possible learning trajectory and improvements, It was not only dismissed, but i was labeled as "not respecting the hierarchy" - Some of the tools and processes used are quite outdated, but not more than with any other organization
