Pros

The 401(k) match was good and they have a few locations throughout the southern Maine area.

Cons

They really don't have a clue on how to properly run a financial institution. There is no training structure for new employees at all. They partake in numerous unethical practices such as giving certain minority groups preference over others when it comes to lending. The company is understaffed for the amount of work they receive thus making everyone work two-three times harder which leads to a very high turnover rate. The CEO is very opinionated, belittles people and blatantly avoids answering difficult questions.

Pros

Their product offerings are great for their members. It's easy to believe in the work you're doing because they do care about the member's best interest. I enjoyed working with some great people over my years working there. I was given opportunities to excel and advance for much of my tenure there. The level of community involvement opportunities is great. 401K Match is pretty good compared to others I've seen.

Cons

Several members of management are quick to judge people/situations harshly and then continue to hold a grudge for way too long. The organization used to pride itself on being a "flat" organization where everyone was in the know because they didn't have layers and layers of management but now it seems everyone is someone else's boss and the lower level managers are not "in the know" any longer. Unrealistic expectations are set without any flexibility or compromise when concerns are voiced from the people actually doing the work. There is a level of micro-management from some of the departments/managers that makes it feel like you are not trusted to do your job.
