Pros
+ You're part of Amazon so assuming you do a decent enough job you'll have job stability + Free comics for the most part (though they started cutting back on this as I was leaving) + A few good people left but they're all super over it.
Cons
- Employee exodus: Post-acquisition, just about every good employee has left. VP of Product, Director of Marketing, Finance, Engineers, Editors, etc. There is a mass exodus from every department now that most people got their Amazon RSUs - A rudder less boat: There is little direction for the future of the business beyond "selling more comics". This leads to rushes in the Digital Editors to edit more comics that don't actually make money compared to the Marvel and DC comics they already edit - Management+Culture: The executives that are left seem to have blinders on. They treat the remaining employees as if they're disposable. This creates a really bad culture, and though they're trying to be better, their efforts are falling flat. Then, when they give HR impossible goals like "Recruit 6 new employees a month to make the year end goal", it's HR's fault for not being able to close good talent when management refuses to acknowledge that maybe their management, culture, and interviewers alert potential candidates that they need to run for the hills and join one of the many other companies in NYC. - Not a fun environment: You'd think selling comics would make the place fun. It's not. No free lunches, snacks are from a vending machine you have to pay for. Only free drinks are water and coffee. We have fruit that's rarely stocked.
