Pros
great opportunity to get exposed to a number of complex systems with the freedom to complete tasks as needed. Very database focused. Exposure to Windows and Red Hat Linux. Great people to work with in the system admin team lead by, at the time Rob; who is a great IT leader with a lot of technical and project management understanding.
Cons
fragmented contract creates a lot of politics between the different sections. A lot of pointing fingers when things go wrong instead of problem management. Developers unable to access live systems due to lack of clearance, so it is difficult for them to diagnose deep problems, leaving the system admins to implement a lot of work-arounds to keep the system functional.
