Pros

The company has a great team, which coworkers are very supportive and easy going. Having such a great team at work was the only reason to come in for work everyday.

Cons

The management here is horrible. The CEO and CTO do not understand what they are doing. They pay you below average rate and expect you to deliver above average products. There's no remote work options and you only get a few paid time off a year. The CEO will make you feel guilty whenever you ask to leave earlier or come in late when you have emergences. The company's workplace is located in a coworking space near Grand Central, which the staffs are friendly. However, the coworking space is poorly managed and they don't even bother to fix the broken restroom light and people have to turn on their cellphone flashlights to use it. The CEO also pay some of the coworking space staffs to spy on employees. Overall, it feels like being in a prison working here.

Pros

This company is a sister company to another review I wrote for is why the pros is identical as the other company- The team was amazing, delightful and the most fun I've ever had working at a company and it was job that paid my bills. And that's the only reason why Culture & Values gets 5 stars. This is a sister company to another company that had just as amazing team members.

Cons

Again, this company is the sister company of another company I've wrote a review for. It is run by the same CEO and CTO and here this is the same/similar review- The CEO and CTO are both very controlling individuals who like to micromanage everyone to the T. Their expectations of their employees are to come in at 9 and leave at never. They have zero genuine appreciation and only see us as just cogs in a machine that are expendable. Which severely affects the company morale. The CTO is a textbook sociopath who uses shallow interests to try to make connections with various team members. Also has absolutely no focus on the actual product due to the absurd amount of sister companies they open next to each other. They treat the staff like children, and offer no transparency to their employees and are not above being petty and dismissive. There are severe acts of favoritism and those who are favored will get away with things more than those who are not. They exploit bootcamp grads desperate for work with very low pay and high expectations and rushed deadlines. They also hire interns with the facade of an internship, but really the interns are doing work for the company, literally building the company for free and at most minimum wage. The CTO also constantly tells the team that they do not have the business "know-how" and would not be able to move laterally and make their desired salaries. A direct quote, "Even if you moved laterally you would be unable to get a six figure salary." The CTO codes but should not be coding at all, instead should be delegating tasks instead of having people fix his code. When team members leave, they childishly wonder why team members leave and when it's explained to them why people are leaving multiple times, they make some changes but the core problem never changes. The CTO and CEO both need to be removed. Both are very power driven/power hungry and controlling individuals who cannot and should not run a company. The CEO is extremely racist and sexist and makes inappropriate comments at many times creating mass discomfort around the company. And he is not above threatening to fire his team members for speaking their minds. Please if you are trying to find a company to grow and be appreciated, stay away from this one.
