Cons

ELT has repeatedly disappointed its employees with a second round of mass layoffs within just six months, while conveniently retaining their own positions. Moreover, the company has recklessly burned through investor funds by pursuing ambitious projects without a clear strategy for marketing or selling the resulting products. Despite attempting to adopt Silicon Valley values, ELT's hiring practices have been limited to individuals from the defense industry, stifling innovation and diversity of thought. If ELT recruited leaders from prominent tech companies, instead of putting in place internal inexperienced personal, ELT could have unlocked the true potential of its commercial department, paving the way for a self-sustaining future. Regrettably, there seems to be only one product in ELT's pipeline that holds potential for generating substantial revenue, but it is projected to take five years to materialize. Given the dire state of affairs, it is highly doubtful that the company will survive beyond 2023. Consequently, it is logical to assume that investors would prefer to cut their losses and sell the company, rather than continue pouring money into this poorly managed and misguided experiment. Within ELT and senior management, there is a prevalence of inflated job titles, with everyone seemingly being dubbed a "Chief" of this or a "VP" of that. This situation has led to a self-serving environment where individuals are solely focused on preserving their titles, enabling them to seamlessly transition to other organizations when they eventually abandon ship.

Pros

Good healthcare coverage Free lunches

Cons

In my entire career, I have never worked anywhere where management would be the sole demise of a company. Based on what I witnessed, the current CEO and Head of HR will truly take this company down due to naivety and apathy. Epirus had the makings of being one of my favorite places to work. I used to laugh daily and was challenged by the tech. What I was promised when I accepted my position ended up not being true, but I stuck it out because I really enjoyed my colleagues. C-Suite a.k.a. Executive Leadership Team (ELT) scratch each others backs and cover for each other as they stumble through inexperience. The nepotism is outlandish as ELT hired 2 high-level friends with enormous salaries and stock options…and followed those hires with a 50 person cut to the company. They also refuses to take ownership over the recent problems as their favorite scapegoat is the former CEO, who left in Dec of 2022, which ALL can see is simply untrue. The hypocrisy runs rampant with demands of being in the office while the ELT are remote and flying first class back and forth across the country to “stop by” the office when they feel like it. The CEO is famous for leaving before major company announcements to zoom in and reading a speech written for him. It is also widely known that few can trust HR and the head is so busy pandering to those in charge, they are incapable of providing proper guidance. This also seems difficult due to their lack of former experience. Epirus has become a shell of the company it once was. With 2 poorly handled layoffs in the last 6 months, the only hope for the remaining folks is to get acquired by a capable company that understands how to run a business. Such a true shame.

Pros

I had the opportunity to work at Epirus for a period of time, and overall, it was a valuable experience that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. The company provided a collaborative and innovative environment that fostered learning and development. My peers were incredibly supportive, and I genuinely enjoyed working with them. The positive aspects of my time at Epirus were numerous. The company encouraged a culture of continuous learning. The work atmosphere was vibrant and intellectually stimulating, allowing me to expand my knowledge and expertise in various domains.

Cons

However, I was disappointed by the sudden layoffs that occurred without prior notice. The ELT's decision to terminate 20% employees caught us off guard and left many of us feeling uncertain and disheartened. It was disconcerting to witness talented colleagues and valuable team members abruptly leave the company. The timing of these layoffs, shortly after the company had made new hires, some uplifting their lives for Epirus, raised concerns about the organization's long-term planning and decision-making processes. The lack of communication and transparency surrounding these layoffs further intensified the unease among employees. It will be challenging to feel secure at Epirus and have any confidence in the company's future trajectory.
