Pros

-ESOP is a nice bonus -Onsite gym is convenient

Cons

-Company is too small and not-diversified (job-wise), you will really be stuck in either your position or a very limited range of positions -If you are an aspiring engineer, avoid this place because it stunt your career and cause you to lose whatever engineering knack you had, unless sales engineer or outside salesmen is your ultimate goal. -Order management/order entry positions are mostly just entering orders, fixing problems, and calling companies to hurry up deliveries, which are always late -Management (The Boys Club) are people to fear. If you take one misstep in this small, 300-person company they blackball you and will find a way to get rid of you. Per the title of "The Boys Club", they demoted or hired above any upper female leaders that they had. They still have some in lower management. They have no trouble keeping unqualified men in positions they have no business being in. -Little to no cultural diversity in the company and especially not management, several of the upper managers are just friends of the CEOs. -For a lot of positive reviews, you will find that most people are happy when they arrive, because at a surface level, things seem pretty nice. Once you're there long enough (about a year I'd say), you realize how messed up a lot of things are -They tout making suggestions to fix things and the company, but they really don't want to hear anything bad or take much seriously. They typically take offense when someone calls out something that doesn't make sense.

Pros

The benefits package is mediocre to slightly above average. ESOP is nice when the one market your company targets isn't tanking, as it frequently does (natural gas fracking). Gym facilities are nice and the wellness coordinator is a good resource. Work life balance is decent as long as you don't run out of sick time.

Cons

The following information is solely an opinion based on firsthand experience. Work here if you're okay with being the low man on the totem pole for your entire career. If you want to do the bare minimum and never progress as an engineer or technical specialist, please apply. No one is looking out for you, and to paraphrase many members of management, everyone is 100% replaceable. The term "Engineer" is used very lightly. Ultimately you'll be a glorified control valve product catalog reader and customer service agent, processing orders, return, and filing customer complaints. You'll get a lot of experience writing down credit card information on a note pad and sending it via Word doc to the order entry team. - The office culture revolves around gossip. Groups of employees will huddle up for hours talking about whomever they don't like that day. - Very little opportunity for advancement. Management makes you interview for every step on the career ladder (i.e. Engineer I to Engineer II, etc.). Even after providing evidence and pleading your case, there's a good chance you're staying put. Those who do get promoted get little to no raise. - Raises are terrible anyway, on average of 1-2.5% per year, barely keeping up with COLA. - Zero guidance on how to grow your career. Management recommends "lateral moves" between company divisions but these do nothing to promote any career growth over peers who have not engaged in "lateral moves" - New CEO took over and is perceived as turning the company into a meat grinder. He has a zero percent approval rating (as of the time of this review) for a reason!! - Company focuses solely on the oil & gas market. This means huge layoffs every 3-4 years, in line with the energy market's health - it's very cyclical. There is decreased focus on true customer satisfaction and turned all attention to sales metrics instead - too bad their Salesforce implementation failed or else he'd at least be able to do that properly! - Upper management positions is filled with cronies (middle-aged yacht club types) and people of very similar personalities, turning the company into an echo chamber, while ignoring all honest advice from employees at all levels. - Management has no diversity of experience or demographic, increasing the amplitude of the echo chamber effect. Seems like they're looking for yes-men, not thinkers and problem solvers. Go against the current and offer opinions that differ will only put you on the blacklist - but then complains when no one gives feedback... wonder why?? - Kept the office open when there was a confirmed active COVID case. These jobs can be done from home just the same (or better) as in the office. - No focus or respect for technical prowess or expertise, and very little opportunities for formal training. All learning is on the job while drinking from a fire hose so it never goes well and employees are left feeling lost. General opinion is that management knows very little about the products they offer. Avoid like the plague - your career and personal happiness will thank you. The front line workers are great but unfortunately that's where the fun ends.
