Pros

The coworkers, the floor managers, and the GM and Regional Director were great people, and they were honestly what made this job worthwhile. The Game Masters were generally pretty fun and animated people. The managers fight for and protect their employees like no one I've ever seen before. They don't do it for the money either (because they're not paid well enough), they genuinely care about their employees. Other than that, there's not many more good things to say about the company.

Cons

I worked with this company for about two years, and I held almost every single title at one point. So, I speak with personal experience when I say that this job isn't worth your time unless you're in college and need some easy part-time money. As a game master, the job is pretty easy -- just watch a screen for 45 minute intervals. The managers take wonderful care of their employees. As a bartender, it's a pretty easy gig, too. Beer and wine only, and the POS system is a piece of cake. As a manager, GOOD LUCK. Don't expect to make a living off of this job, I sure didn't. The managers are underpaid, under-appreciated, and verbally berated by the owners on a relatively consistent basis. I give a lot of props to the RD and GM for taking so much of the heat for the managers who work themselves dry trying to keep this place functioning for two people who don't care about anything other than their monthly income. If a bad review comes in, and you're a part time employee, get ready to search for another job. Even if the review is about the flow of the rooms or the puzzles inside of the rooms, expect the owners to dump it all on you or the manager on duty for the shift. I would like to address a response to a previous review that stated that shifts get cut often and at the last minute, but the owner replied that employees now receive compensation for cut shifts. That is COMPLETELY UNTRUE, employees do not receive compensation if their shifts are cut, but the upper management fought like crazy with the owners to make sure that shifts DON'T get cut (as often, if at all). Overall, this place is far more stress than it's worth. The company isn't going anywhere fast, so the owners are just trying to tack more businesses onto it to increase their monthly income. Remember, to the owners Escape Room Live is not about the employees within it or even the guests that come in and out of the doors, it's about the amount of money they can put in their pockets.

Pros

Co-workers! The Gamemasters are fun and treat you like family as soon as you start.

Cons

DRAMA. 99.8% of the drama that happens here is usually done at the hands of the Mangement team. I haven't been here long, but I hear that this place used to actually be a great place to work. But recently, people are quitting or getting fired or retaliated against for offering their opinion. They can also overwork some of their employees; having them act in multiple roles ( game master, manager, host, special events) in a single shift but paying them for one. Like what is going on? Managment pretends like they are your friend and want the best for you. but are hostile to you when you bring up a concern. And the employees that have worked here longer get in trouble for complaining in front of us newbies because it doesn't foster a "positive work environment" Where's the freedom of speech? And what did I sign on to? Glad I'm only here for the break.

Pros

Most of the supervisors/managers directly above the gamemasters were extremely professional, had a superb work ethic, and were always willing to jump into the fray when needed. Free food every now and then. Private parties would often have their events catered, and leave some very delicious food behind. Work wasn't too difficult, the public speaking aspect took some getting used to, but after you say a script 12 times a day. you get used to it.

Cons

Weird hours. You'd get cut very often when it was slow, but if it was a busy week be prepared to work three doubles in a row. They'd also cut hours during the shift you were currently working, they'd either tell you to come in later for a shift, or leave early and have the manager run your last room. You could tell the managers weren't too thrilled about these last minute changes, it essentially doubled their work load. The inconsistent hours on top of paying $10-$20 for parking every single shift when you're paycheck was 1/3 it was before led to some rather disappointing paydays. This is the biggest deal-breaker. Rampant favoritism amongst the higher levels of management as well as some employees. Employees who were consistently late, ordered whatever equipment they wanted on the company card, and disappearing for hours at a time to move their cars or go out to lunch, showed that they really had the authority to do whatever they wanted with no repercussions. The owners are very passionate. Sometimes passion is good, like working insane hours morning to night to make sure a room is ready. Sometimes it's bad, like firing 20 people in a single day. Props would stay broken, and if it broke in the middle of your shift, you'd have to whip up some crazy workaround and scramble in a window of a few minutes before the next booking was scheduled. I'll give the staff this, they work extremely well under pressure. Sometimes room maintenance wasn't a priority, the rooms were magnificent when they first opened, but after months of continuously play there were scuff marks on the floors, paint chipping from bookcases, exposed wires, etc. Health insurance was a large debate for a while. I think they have it now, but it was definitely an uphill battle to get it implemented.
