Pros

This was an amazing experience for me to work at the highest level of ECHR law and apply that in assessing applications coming to the Court. I was exposed to a lot of really interesting people and cases. It is generally a chill environment and everyone on my level was very friendly and easy to get on with. The pay and benefits are great and Strasbourg is a lovely place to live.

Cons

It is a fixed term contract with a maximum of 4 years so you will eventually have to uproot your entire life again unless you secure a different contract at the court or CoE. The major con is the management within the Court. The managers within my particular team were very difficult to deal with throughout my time and essentially do not know how to manage staff. The morale within my team was very low and it seems to be an ongoing issue. Management are generally unhelpful and patronising.
