Static and bureaucratic

Pros

Salary IT is a complex and challenging environment You will learn how to do things and how not to do things Max 40 hours per week. You are not allowed to work more. Good regulations on part time and family leave

Cons

Contract max 9 years (aside from the very few lucky ones) so not a career organization. You get hired for the position, difficult to switch unless you apply for somethings else. Or in case the position changes over time. It is all about executing the work plans. The rest will come after that (so close to never).

Good salary, good times... not much else

Pros

The salary and benefits is excellent, the hours manageable and there is excellent support for your family. The social scene is also really good.

Cons

It is a lumbering EU bureaucracy bereft of common sense or fairness. The quality of middle management can be really low, so despite the efforts from the Director to modernise and make it fit for purpose, no one feels empowered to do anything that isn't in the regulations. Career progression is a down to blind luck.

Pros

Excellent mission, very motivating; very good team, helpful and professional! Amazing headquarters, tools, benefits, location. Learning organization, project based, multicultural/multinational atmosphere. Competitive salaries and benefits, European School near by.

Cons

Bureaucracy-as a public institution is understandable, but sometimes it slows things down more than in the private sector. Once you understand that the objectives of a public organizations are transparency and equal treatment, as well as data protection, the time taken to ensure these fir the public is justifiable.
