Pros

Employees are fantastic and there are a ton of smart people who work at ExecOnline.

Cons

Again the people are fantastic, but senior management needs a complete overhaul. They sell a product that is several years behind the competition when it comes to tech and the content doesn’t make up for it. There have been several rounds of layoffs in the past year and they continue to blame the reps even though all customers share the same sentiment of issues with the platform. Even reps that have had success are not safe from layoffs if they have a bad quarter or two (Unless friendly with the right people) . I cannot recommend enough stay away from this company. Every single deal that I have lost I can trace back to a poor product. We don’t have a real demo, customers tell us our platform looks like it was created in 1998, and many of the testimonials you see on our website aren’t even clients anymore. It is mind boggling that leadership keeps their jobs after such a disastrous sales year, but you get rid of a lot of quality people that have brought in a ton of revenue/value. The writing is on the wall that this is a sinking ship, and likely will be finding employment elsewhere.

Pros

- Good PTO - Summer Fridays - Flexible, remote work - Good work life balance - Some nice people throughout the company

Cons

- I worked here for a long time and never received a raise, they promised me a raise several times and it never happened (this happened to several of my colleagues as well) - Several of us had our work loads doubled, even tripled and no one received a raise - they expect a lot and there is no return - If you are ambitious and you want a great career, this is not the company to work for - Unprofessional managers - No room for growth or moving teams (Although this is something they continue to preach but it is not true) - You do the same thing everyday and they raised sales goals so it is impossible to make more than your base - Lots of empty promises from senior leadership - This is purely cold calling - they do not exactly say that in the hiring process but it is pretty much all they want you to do (Calling is outdated and no one answers their phone anymore)

Pros

The base salary is okay. CEO is a cool guy. NYC office is conveniently located by Penn Station.... that's about all I got.

Cons

There are a lot more cons than pros. First off, there is no clear bonus structure for BDX's. This is UNHEARD OF for a sales job. Additionally, there are people in management roles who clearly lack experience. The culture is toxic for most people, unless you happen to be one of the favorites. If not, good luck. There is no clear structure for promotion at all. Expectations are ridiculous. Nobody meets them and if you're not one of the favorites you're out. There is a reason there is so much turnover - nobody truly enjoys working on the team. Ridiculous, outdated policies. A TON of unnecessary meetings. And many other things that make sense - no PTO in Q4? They really make you feel guilty for using a PTO day that you're entitled to. I could go on and on but in short.. I would be very careful before starting here as a BDX. You can get the same job just about anywhere else and make more money and be treated with much more respect.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. It is very important for us as an organization to continue to improve and adjust when needed. We revisit the BDX bonus structure regularly and are committed to making improvements that reflect the hard work of the team. While we encourage all of our employees to discuss promotions and bonus payouts with their managers, we always want to be sure there’s transparency and clarity about these processes at a large scale. We also review the goals set for the team, and benchmark against other high-performing organizations. Our aim is to evaluate performance based on accomplishment and data - not by playing favorites. You’re right - this job is *not* easy, and many in the organization started their EXO journey as a BDX. Empathy is a huge piece of our organization, and if you found that lacking, then there are definitely things we can do better. We want to thank you once again for allowing us the opportunity to continuously improve our organization by sharing your thoughts.
