Pros

-Benefits were decent -Sometimes felt like you were making a difference when coming to work -Working remote really took off after covid -Snacks in the break rooms -Great personalities to work with everyday.

Cons

-The pay is absolutely terrible and not competitive in any market that you're in. Did you know that the firm also hasn't given out raises in over two years? They furloughed and fired NUMEROUS high-quality employees during the covid pandemic, slashed pay by 15% yet continued to hire 3-4 partners PER MONTH over that period of time. They have no problem cozying up to every social movement out there, but when it comes time to paying people an honest wage for honest work, they fall flat on their faces. -Being one of the many woke companies out there, they cozy up to every social movement under the sun yet one of their executive officers taunted and mocked a subordinate, to their face and in a group setting of said person's peers, about their perceived faith. HR knows about this, yet this pathetic excuse of a C-level officer still remains on the payroll. -Really enjoyed doing the job of 7 other people at the firm while only getting paid for doing my own. So rewarding. -Nobody directly supporting the attorneys (i.e. paralegals and LAA's) are challenged to grow their skillsets, particularly when it comes to anything technology-related. I feel so bad for this firm's clients and how much extra money they dish out because this firm refuses to hold its support staff accountable and does not care to train them on how to be successful with technology. It is only going to continue to get worse as technology becomes more and more weaved into the legal profession.

Typical old school law firm

Pros

The pay is great because it’s a law firm. That’s about it.

Cons

Everything else - if you aren’t a JD, be prepared to be treated like an idiot, talked down to, slave ridden by most of the old school Partners. There are some really nice ones. Most don’t know a thing about how to market themselves or the firm as a whole. The most backwards environment ever. There is no governance with regards to human capital structure, management, performance, employee conduct, etc. everyone in a position of power can do whatever to whomever and because it’s a law firm. You have subzero empowerment and there is absolutely no one and nothing to go to. There is no E&C hotline, HR has been around for 30+years so you know they work for the firm not for the people. It’s an absolutely awful, toxic environment.

Toxic work environment

Pros

The projects are diverse and the firm moved to a new data center, which is a good step forward.

Cons

The leadership at the firm is toxic and may deny people's ability to work from home, or take PTO. Typical work week is 70-80 in the technology area. The technology area also has very high turn over.
