Pros

Florida is right to work state, so you can make the choice to quit working here like most people do within a year of starting. However, lots of turnover in back office creates lots of opportunities. Accounting has probably hired over a dozen people in the last 4 years, HR and training have also hired half a dozen people that start and quit or get fired quickly, risk management goes through people quickly, the call center changes staff almost monthly. The only people that really stay are friends or family of CEO or their friends. This place is a monument to cronyism.

Cons

The guilt that comes from knowing you pay is supported by the tax payers through the outdated credit union tax exemption. The pay scale is market bottom, no paid maternity leave, unprofessional management and managers. A very dysfunctional family stmosphere full of bitter aunts, closeted uncles, affairs, cheating, theft and creepers.

Pros

Decent pay and benefits (can trade in unused sick time towards medical expenses which was very cool). Frequent cool company events like big Christmas Party and Halloween costume contest. That's about it.

Cons

Leadership, starting from the top down, is very difficult to work with. Really rude encounter with CEO kind of put me off from ever talking to him again. There is a huge push for sales above all else that makes me wonder if the management here even knows what a credit union is supposed to be. Very big bank feel. Also, lots of cliques...you are well liked if you know someone important but otherwise you're on your own. Very true in HR and Marketing especially.

Pros

The company culture is very supportive and team-oriented, and they always try to make the job as fun as possible, with excellent parties and events to keep you excited to work there. Pay compared to the industry is competitive. Managers at branch level are always encouraged to take the least-punitive/least destructive path toward any resolution, and the company truly loves the credit union members. If you *really* like people and want to help, this may be a good fit.

Cons

The sales goals structure for branch crewmembers is very much in sync with the rest of the banking industry, which felt to me that they are a "Wells Fargo" just waiting to happen. The pressure to meet sales goals was intense, to say the least. And with even entry-level crewmembers authorized to open accounts, there is not only very little wiggle room about meeting goal, but real temptation to open unnecessary accounts. I'll say it again - the pressure to meet sales goals is VERY strong, with the very real possibility of losing your job if goals are not met. This is regardless of how the branch is performing as a whole. On the brighter side of this, your only competition is yourself and the numbers - you are not in direct competition with co-workers, so that friction is less than it could be.
