Poor management
Pros
In the role you impact those in the community that are most in need and see real positive outcomes.
Cons
My line manager left a lot to be desired in her role, is not receptive to feedback or adapting with the times at all. She passed on things that fall within her role to other my colleagues under the pretext of "delegating" leaving her with pretty almost nothing to do in her role even though the staff she passed the work on to are paid half of what she is and are inexperienced staff. She is passive aggressive and there has been a high staff turnover over the years with everyone who left stating the reason was management. She constantly feels the need to remind people she is a manager when someone goes to her with a request and takes an unreasonable amount of time doing things. This has been fed back to upper management in the form of the managers appraisal feedback but no action was taken on this which she confirmed saying it went very well so she has been allowed to continue on her destructive path with staff without any fear of being reprimanded for her poor management. I came to Family Action full of optimism and expecting to work there for a number of years but this was drained from me in the short time I have been with the organisation leading to me already looking for the exit door. It seems as though upper management care very little about our local service and my manager is allowed to get away with such as not giving staff their increments when they are entitled to them, dishonesty with employment contracts, shouting and patronising staff.
