Lack of Awareness and Communication

Pros

Fandor was once a great place to work. The management team cared, there was growth and forward progress, the challenges were treated as opportunties and were always interesting.

Cons

Management is operating in from a place of a by-gone era. Treating current employees as children, gossiping about former employees, the senior team is a group of pathological liars who are so accustomed to their own lies they have begun to believe them. With the senior being so out of touch, and remote (spend half of their time in NYC), they have completely lost touch with the culture in HQ. This is demonstrated by the fact that all the entirety of technology leadership left in 2017 and have not been replaced by full time employment - only part time contractual labor from a mediocre ad agency.

Pros

Outside of the leadership team, the individual contributors are enjoyable to work with.

Cons

Fandor's original mission was great, but because of poor management and no direction, the company has lost its arthouse edge. The execs change their direction every month so no one knows what to work on. They also hired an ad agency to do branding work, but nearly two years later, they've produced nothing. I would avoid if you're looking for career growth. There are no performance reviews or anniversary incentives.
