Pros
Free food and coffee, just like every other cafe I’ve worked in… Tips were good for staff, but customers pay a service charge on every order at the till (before having any service) and without being asked if they want to. I find this morally wrong.
Cons
They clearly paid someone for the 5 star review. I fully agree with the other 1 star reviews, all very true. Was lied to on hiring process. Was promised a possibility of progression and full time hours. It was a zero hour contract and some weeks I only had 20 hours work. Wage didn’t go up in line with minimum wage. Found out after I left that the male baristas were on £14ph while females were on £11ph. One of these male baristas was a bully and was horrible to a lot of staff - he never got any reprimand but instead was made head barista. Payslips not clear - especially when it came to tips. Pay was always as late as possible. Owner horrible man.
