Pros

1. Flexible work schedule 2. Good people to work with 3. Claims supervisors seem to genuinely care about their people

Cons

I’ve worked here since before it was bought out. Figo USED to be an amazing place to work. Since it was bought out by IPG (Independence Pet Group), the employee experience has drastically and rapidly declined. The following cons are a direct result of IPG, who claims in meetings that they want to be “the best place you’ve ever worked.” 1. End of year bonus was an absolutely insulting $30, which is much lower than previous years. 2. Yearly raises are also insulting. Especially for the ones who go above and beyond. Less than 4% if you are one of the lucky ones. Even less if you are not running at full speed all of the time. This doesn’t even start to cover the cost of the current inflation or the rise in the cost of living. 3. Employee appreciation day was turned into a popularity contest where instead of appreciating all of the employees, we are to submit nominations vote on who is to be appreciated. Again, absolutely insulting. 4. The health insurance is extremely expensive compared to other employers with very poor coverage. 5. Life insurance is apparently “covered” by the company, but if you make over a certain amount, you are responsible for the taxes, which they are happy to take out of your check. 6. They do not withhold the correct amount for federal taxes- which causes me to owe money at tax time. When questioned, they tell you there is nothing wrong and you need to consult your tax professional. 7. The only thing that is important now is numbers and metrics. There is zero priority placed on employee development or continued education. Our new employees aren’t even properly trained and are just thrown in to make the numbers look better! The overall morale has reached record low due to the complete lack of insight into how their actions are actually effecting their employees. It’s quite honestly offensive that they don’t understand why people are unhappy. For a parent company who claims they want this to be “the best place I’ve ever worked,” they have ALOT of work to do and a lot of reevaluation and self reflection that needs to be done.

Pros

Enjoyed a lot of the people I worked with!

Cons

They do not do internal transfers into other departments. They will choose others to transfer to other departments who are employed there that are not qualified if they feel you are excelling in your current position. Promotions and transfers are also based upon favoritism and nepotism. They are incredibly understaffed and using company money for something unknown but employees are suffering as there are not enough of them. The tech for insurance members has been "under construction" for years and is unusable although Figo calls themselves a techy-pet insurance company. Management is unresponsive and nothing is "transparent" as they state. Figo states that they are open to feedback about the way things work within the company but your voice goes nowhere. You are silenced. You are expected to multitask to the point of burnout... taking calls, and responding to text messages and chats from customers all at once. But they expect people to hit certain numbers. You are definitely not paid for the amount of BS that you have to put up with and the amount of work you have to do daily.

Pros

Remote work environment. I met some truly passionate and dedicated people. Decent work life balance, never had to work a weekend.

Cons

I was brought on a few months before their acquisition. The environment has steadily declined ever since. 1. They charge you 20$ per pay check for a "Tele-Commuting fee" 2. No sick days 3. Not much time off 4. They do not care about pets. All they want is growth and do not care what they have to do to get it. Even if it means telling lies, omitting important info, and using fake customer quotes. 5. Marketing team does not know what they want and takes it out on the designers because they didn't provide enough direction. Marketing wishes they were designers but they constantly change their minds causing missed deadlines and multiple rounds of revisions. They are incredibly nit-picky and when you ask questions for clarification more than once they get angry that you're questioning them and they belittle you. 6. Too many stake holders want to put their noses into projects and there is absolutely no trust between teams. This causes a bottleneck and said stake holders do not collaborate together so you get conflicting feedback. This holds up deliverables and causes headaches because you're trying to create two different projects for two bosses. 7. No room for growth or learning opportunities. There is no mentorship, managers do not care about teaching new workers or trying to train people for senior positions. 8. They claim to be working on company culture since being bought out by IPG but the environment is not welcoming. Figo went from fairly laid back to the most corporate company I have ever seen. They have a lot of meetings about how a team "should work" (ex. brainstorming and creating word clouds of ideal work situations and how to communicate) but they don't listen to this feedback and don't truly put an effort into making a safe work balance. For employee appreciation day they sent an email stating they were picking 10 employees and giving out 100$ each to the 10 winners. The employees were nominated by other coworkers and this was basically turned into a contest. What a joke. They also sent out 30$ bonus to all employees in 2022 during Christmas. 9. Lack of diversity 10. No organization at all. Files are hard to find. No consistent naming.
