1) Top-down working culture. Leadership is authoritarian, domineering, lacks accountability, and mediocre in terms of technical competency. Most of the directors and management only have an extensive sales experience in terms of career. There were instances where management have openly lashed out at staff.
2) The values and culture advocated by the company are superficial and insincere. Any feedback solicited from staff is a show. There is little room for inclusivity and diverse views. Zero support towards staff taking up courses or to upgrade skills.
3) Efforts and contributions of staff are not recognized or appreciated. The annual staff appraisal is a paper exercise. Annual compensation reviews are not based on KPIs fulfilled or contributions made. Senior management vetoes the decision, and the decision is imposed during the appraisal. Any attempt to negotiate is brushed aside.
4) Staff progression is based solely on how much they like you, not performance or availability of the position. Even then, they do not give existing staff the opportunity to prove themselves. Several positions in the company are left vacant for up to a year, even when there are existing staff interested in those roles.
This is not a healthy or competitive place to work at, in terms of compensation, progression opportunities or just to gain career experience.
