Pros

- benefits are very good - look at the positions entire compensation package as I would say ( free lunches, paid for vehicle, paid for fuel, nice uniforms, pto, sick days, decent bonuses, very flexible work schedule/life if you become proficient at your job) As a field service tech you will work hand in hand with just about every other field related position In The company giving you key experiences and chances to learn from those that have many decades of knowledge just waiting to be accessed, but remember this will only happen if you stick around long enough and produce good work. Too many times have I seen field service techs in this role become "comfortable" and "complacent" due to them feeling a lack of understanding the tasks at hand or motivation to push forward. Just make sure you are prepared to be challenged, and have a willingness to just say "ok" and listen. You won't always have the answer or know how to get there but as long as you try your hardest to figure it out on your own you will never be allowed to fail by the team surrounding you. This is an excellent role for someone looking to grow and develop their working skills. You will pickup many skills from work related tasks you've never before attempted and also invaluable personal & professional skills your co-workers to the left and right of you will discuss and share with you if you always remember smile, nod your head, and say ok but do not forget these invaluable pieces of knowledge and experiences are not going to happen all at once or even in a few months time. you will only extract the true value of the company and the position if YOU work the long hours when no one else will, if YOU Learn how to fix issues faster than your peers, and if YOU put in the time and repetion to learn the job aswell as to cement the additional things told to you in your mind. And always remember alot of your co-workers here come from.backgrounds of all types so you will pickup "tips&tricks" so to speak from all sorts of industry's and backgrounds

Cons

The most valuable and eye-opening event that has ever happened to me occured while working here when I was told the reason I was being under compensated in relation to an employee that I was to teach all of the knowledge I had amassed, and fix what they could not "you are young, and this is your first job out of the military. He is older and has invaluable experience from their background, no employer will give you what you are worth" Do not work here strictly to make money you will be overworked and underpaid. While you will have the opportunity to learn plenty and develop professionally never forget that at the end of the day no matter how good you believe yourself to be, how tirelessly you work, how much you believe to have contributed to the company you will always be seen as one thing and one thing only. A tool to get a job done. You won't be valued based off your ability to produce good work but more so on how you are liked amongst upper management. It is totally possible for an employee that has worked here for 5 years, has made countless sacrifices, and knows just as much as the other employee to be paid less than someone who has worked here for two because I've been in both positions. I've received more money that my manager ever had but at the same time I was at one point being paid less than an individual I was to train, and teach the job to. My advice is strip as much knowledge from the company and position as you can and move on. if you feel you are being undervalued it's most likely because you are. Use this position to learn, grow, and take that skill elsewhere where it will truly be valued and appreciated.
