Pros

* large office space * Ample parking * Free tea and coffee * Fantastic recruiters who are under valued

Cons

* focus 5 champion themselves as a company no one would want to leave (others left in quick succession prior to my tenure) * They delight in the lack of HR department or employee with a HR background meaning you have very little support when you feel you need it. * One of the directors has never recruited a day in their lives but feels confident to direct senior recruiters on a daily basis. * Monday meetings are spent discussing your weekend and planning the week ahead. Wednesday meetings are spent discussing Mondays meeting and what you’ve done in the whole 48 hours since. Meeting durations take away massively from your working day and prove no use to your actual job. * You’re told that one day a week of your choice is required in the office (this day is in fact a Wednesday, so choice doesn’t really come into it unless you want to be the only one going against the grain) * CRM system is pretty much redundant and not used to its full capacity meaning work pretty much goes untracked. * Sickness is not supported, and you will receive communication when off sick to the point meetings will be planned with clients before you have even reported fit for work. This places undue pressure on the employee. Disappointing for a company who likes to champion mental health. * When I handed in my resignation my access was removed that day and I was removed from all access to my emails or client portfolio. The option to work my notice was rejected (to prevent them paying me my commission) * Despite landing a candidate from a competitor through headhunt, my commission was withheld from my final pay as well as my true remaining leave days. Leave days were down to the system not being updated. * Embarrassing dialogue between directors and clients made meetings with clients awkward at times. * Encouraged to update your LinkedIn to promote a positive brand and encouraged to firefight any complaints from candidates or clients. * Amazing potential but poorly managed.

Pros

- Flexible working hours - Understanding, compassionate, supportive and ambitious team - Lovely office space - Free parking - Regular incentives (tailored to your personal interests, not just typical boozy recruiter doo's). - No threshold commission structure - Dog friendly office - Good holiday allowance - Relaxed dress code - Freedom of thoughts and ideas (Directors welcome all new ideas and concepts and I have yet to be told no on anything I've suggested). - Work from anywhere policy (which team members have used and regularly use when visiting family abroad or just fancy a change of scenery). - Very positive and calming atmosphere (which is rare for a sales role) I've never worked with/ in an environment where I've felt as cared for, supported and where I can make such an impact/ difference. So far, in my professional career, I'd go as far to say - the happiest I've ever been in my role.

Cons

- Small fish in a big pond - This comes with any smaller business/ start up trying to claim their territory. It can be a challenge going up against much bigger agencies when trying to win new business. But support and guidance is always on hand, if you need it. The only other cons I can think of are more aimed at the Recruitment game as a whole (and that wouldn't be fair to pin those problems on Focus 5).
