HORRIBLE. Worst Boss Ever.

Pros

You get to work with dogs.

Cons

Foolish Heart Farm is easily the worst place I have ever worked. The owner is an absolutely horrid person. She puts on a fake face for her clients, but those she doesn't like or whose dogs don't act exactly how she wants them to, she will be so rude to them. Like Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. She SCREAMS at employees, rarely talks to them like actual human beings. The owner claims it's on 14 acres but that includes her house and pastures that the customer will NEVER see. All yards are artificial turf so if your dog comes home smelling like pee, that's why. Pet owners are lied to constantly by staff because if they say the truth, the owner will berate the staff, calling them idiots/stupid/incompetent, etc. They are overworked, understaffed, and very very underpaid. Conditions in the kennel are so hot that employees are sweating the entire time, and they get yelled at if the A/C is on. Dogs are left outside for hours at a time, despite pet owners being told they are outside for only 15 minutes. I would never bring my own pets to board here. It is a horrible place with horrible management, bad conditions, and miscommunication all around.

Pros

You get to work with animals.

Cons

The owner is the worst; I have never wanted to quit a job so badly in my life. The kennel attendants and personal assistant get yelled at (literally yell, not just raising her voice) every day, sometimes multiple times a day, for things they were never told to do, things done by another employee, things they were never trained on, and small things that easily get overlooked in a busy work environment. The owner is also constantly saying conflicting things and gets mad at the employees for it when they cant read her mind. She also constantly overbooks the kennel so that the only room is out in other buildings which have little to no temperature control. Even in the main building she doesn't want the heating or air conditioning running except for a few hours a day. I started work in the summer so it got up to 85-90 degrees INSIDE the "climate controlled" kennel every day which is enough to give the workers heat exhaustion much less the animals. The dogs also have to be left outside in the heat for multiple hours in order to clean and unless the owner gives specific instructions the dogs are severely underfed to the point where some dogs are almost skin and bones. There are also multiple dogs who shouldn't be allowed in the kennel because they are aggressive towards other dogs or employees but they are still allowed to keep boarding even when management knows about the issue because they are friends of the owner. Honestly the only thing the owner cares about is money to support her lavish lifestyle. She doesn't care about the health of the employees or animals and as long as the appearance of the kennel is good to customers she will cut costs as much as possible to the detriment of everyone and everything except for herself. Even if this job paid me double what I make now I would still leave because the treatment of the employees and animals by the owner is unbearable.

Not enough hours, abusive owner, animal abuse. Also the owner would use the N word when referencing truck drivers
