Politics and Favoritism

Pros

Not a micro managed environment (in some groups) Tuition reimbursement Good benefits PTO Employee stock options Decent pay if you know the going rate and negotiate properly

Cons

Favoritism and office politics have changed the environment for the worst after newest drilling management. Its a WHO you know, not what you know environment ever since. The buddies get promoted to positions they are not qualified for and they take credit for others work while blaming all mistakes on them as well. Hard work and loyalty is not rewarded, only who you buddy up to. No open door policy because of upper management "relationships" with other employees. No moral, everyone is miserable at a company people used to think they would retire from.

Pros

An ever growing company with many locations and business units offers opportunity and challenge.

Cons

My experience was a lack of clarity, structure and consistency. Workload is very heavy if you are the motivated type, but not consistent across employees.

Pros

It is a job that pays you a salary.

Cons

There is no sense of unity or cooperation among the different product lines. There is no culture. Only management and corporate reap the benefits of any success. There is no development of skilled lower level employees. An earlier reviewer mentioned an atmosphere of "working scared" and that is spot on. There are way too many managers and too few people who do the actual work.
