Professional Support Staff Beware

Pros

Career opportunities are vast as positions frequently become available, easy to negotiate to work from home.

Cons

Poor/Lacking Leadership from management. The last 3 years has been painful to watch as people are burned by Management/HR and leave because of it. Most of the institutional knowledge is gone from the pool of current Professional Support Staff as they have left for better opportunities or from mistreatment/neglect. The cause of this is mainly due to their focus of catering to the attorneys and set a very strict chain of hierarchy. If you are reviewing Foster Garvey as a possible employer, please know that the obvious positive e-marketing is out there when the truth is most of the professional staff is either struggling during these times without much support from those calling the shots and are either exploring other employment opportunities or are the small cases of those with seniority that they're able to get what they want.

Avoid Following Merger

Pros

First of all, Foster Pepper is now Foster Garvey, they just don’t have a page as of yet. The staff is very kind and talented, attorneys are generally understanding of the situation, lovely views, post-merger (Foster Pepper became Foster Garvey) you can forge your own path theoretically.

Cons

The merger has could have been handled much, much better. The majority of staff and many attorneys have left in the last year and a half. Those in charge are largely new, so there doesn’t seem to be anyone who understands what is happening, and no decisions are being made. Additionally, there is nearly zero communication between management and staff. I highly suggest avoiding Foster Garvey until at least 2021 so they can sort out what they want the new firm to look like. It will come around, it just isn’t a glowing opportunity at the moment.
