      Great company to work for.

      Pros

Framestore is an amazing place to work for. The Management team is great, very fair, very straight and trustworthy. The work produced is usually excellent. The crew is great and the culture of the company is very healthy.

      Cons

The whole industry runs on a shoestring and this shows at Framestore with the wages and contract being tightly managed. Saying this it is still possible to do well for people who put extra effort in the work.

Good place to learn, not so good place to grow

      Pros

      - big projects, big clients - people are really nice, there are some blown up egos but 99.9% of people you meet are super friendly and easy to work with - if you're early in your career, this is a great place to learn, you'll find yourself working on awesome, interesting and exciting projects, great place to build your CV

      Cons

      - very little career growth especially in the junior/associate roles, promotions seem arbitrary and opaque - diversity is a non-existent, unable and unwilling to address the actual structural diversity issues in the company - low base salaries with non transparent pay reviews - no company culture/values/mission, at the end of the day we are a vendor and we do what clients demand us to do

      Great Support Throughout Pandemic

      Pros

Wasn't in the office too long before the pandemic sent us all home. However was quickly working well with a great team and they did their best to support us all throughout the pandemic. Amazing head of production in Claire, who is very approachable and always willing to listen.

      Cons

Started my contract a bit too early for a project which left me with very little to do for a while, not ideal when trying to impress in a new job!

Great for juniors / very poor salary / no real opportunity to upgrade or move into comp.

      Pros

Very nice to learn from a great established team. The social life is super great and a lot of energy is put into making fun activities for the pnr department. Both the departement manager AND the HOD are great people. HR is genius and they really did a great job (sad to see them leave the same time as me)

      Cons

Lowest salary in Montreal, by far, and its a known thing. They will prefer to see you leave than giving you a raise and will do everything they can to keep you in paint and Roto. They offer the ideal of moving into comp if you do a training (takes at least one year of staying at night and delivering comp shots with absolute no guarantee you'll move up) Many artist from pnr where used to deliver comp shots in crunch time and didn't get a raise or a chance to move into the "better" comp department even if you delivered full movies comp shot. The QC process is really painful in pnr at FS but this is good for new juniors since it will train them to deliver quality before quantity.

As a woman, I've been respected and didn't get harassed. The teams with which I've worked so far have been great. Plus, the projects are super fun.

      Cons

I've been told by external employees that the pay isn't really high.

      burned out and unappreciated

5 May 2021 - Artist in Los Angeles, CA

      Pros

they hire the top talented artists and hr makes an effort to keep moral up.

      Cons

Too many to list. It's impossible to move up in the company, it does happen but typically years after the person should have been promoted, assuming they didn't quit first. Like all VFX houses, there is no work life balance, even if the company owner keeps saying there should be, there isn't one. You will be expected to work overnight and weekends because that is how the producers plan the projects. Production is a joke with little to no training for the coordinators and only hiring freelance producers who don't know how to do their job and their contract ends by the time they figure it out. If you drive to work, there is zero parking, even for the full time staff. There isn't a clear chain of command in the LA office so it is a huge unorganized mess. Oh and all those beautiful pieces on their reel framestore is know for? You won't be working on any of that because London does all the impressive work. What does LA do? Mediocre commercials that will make you feel disillusioned and turns the place into a meat grinder causing everyone to have terrible attitudes and treat everyone poorly.
