Pros

You can make your own schedule to a certain extent, and you're outside all day (if that's your thing). Playing with the dogs is fun, and the pay is decent if you can get a pretty full workload.

Cons

It's difficult to get a full workload, and the office doesn't seem all that interested in helping its employees get to that point. The management is also pretty out of touch with the realities of the tasks of their walkers, and while mistakes are immediately punished, good work is rarely recognized. It is very cliqueish and I saw the same employees being praised over and over again while myself and other walkers who I knew were doing just as well were left out in the cold. There is a pervasive air of unprofessionalism.

A bunch of little problems

Pros

So this is where you actually begin to care about this company. Both of the owners are genuinely nice people and care a lot about pets. They honestly try to make it a small business feel.

Cons

Most small businesses don't have the high turnover rate that FGMN does. There is a real disconnect between employees and management. The employees don't feel heard and are never offered a raise (even the employees who have been with the company for over 5 years). The facility needs updating. It's not unsafe or anything, it's just kind of ugly.

Good short-term job

Pros

I've worked as a dog walker for about a year. They have a great staff at the front office, will provide most of your clients, and handle all the scheduling , billing, etc.

Cons

The pay is low, about 50% of what they charge the client. Considering all the money you spend on gas and wear on your car, it is difficult to make much money, even by the standards of a part-time job.
