Pros

•The facility itself is really nice and is kept very clean

Cons

•The attendant to dog ratio is awful and extremely unsafe. When I started this job I was told that I'd rarely be alone in a yard and that management cared about safety. Hah. I was paired up with a senior employee for ~4 days of training, then I was on my own due to staffing. I regularly was in charge of 30+ dogs by myself which is SO unsafe. It is unrealistic to expect someone to be able to keep a safe eye on 30+ dogs with different temperaments, all while cleaning up their poop/pee. Accidents did occasionally happen as a result, and employees were always chastised by management about incidents that would be preventable if yards were appropriately staffed. •Management allows dogs to come in that have bad temperaments and have known incidents with biting people. They rarely put a cap on the number of dogs allowed each day because money is more important than safety. •The work schedule is never consistent and management expects you to attend in-person meetings that are scheduled late at night with very little notice. •Never get sick, because management doesn't allow it. If you have to call in sick then it is your responsibility to find a replacement for your shift, and if you can't you're threatened with being fired. •You will feel terrible for the way management wants you to treat dogs. Employees carry around spray bottles to stop rowdy behavior, barking, etc. And when I was being trained by the senior employee, they told me to aim at the face. This results in many dogs becoming terrified of you and the spray bottle. The rules for the dogs are also ridiculous. I was told that dogs aren't allowed to bark or run (literally.... no running at all), no toys allowed, and that only 2 dogs could play together at one time. So if a dog even goes to sniff the area around where 2 other dogs are playing- they get sprayed in the face. If they look in that general direction- sprayed in the face. You will feel like your job is to prevent these pups from having any fun. Their reasoning for all of these rules is that they want to prevent dog fights from breaking out, but I worked at 2 dog daycares prior to this job and neither of them had so many strict rules. The other daycares allowed group play, allowed running, and had toys in the yards- it resulted in a much more positive and fun environment, unlike Fydoland.

Pros

Working with dogs and learning each and everyone individually was definitely the best part.

Cons

I don’t like to slander. It was a great job.
