Subpar Executive Team

Pros

Remote workforce Pockets of superb management and leadership

The executive leadership team is the worst I’ve experienced in my career. After going through two rounds of layoffs, the CEO refuses to directly acknowledge directly them and that the company is not growing. Instead, she continues to bang the drum that the company is “in the best place it’s ever been” and she’s “never felt more confident”. She doesn’t attempt to address problems or own messaging that isn’t wildly positive - everything is a swirl of toxic positivity. I do not have any confidence in her ability to lead. The rest of the executive team is not better. Multiple executives were on PTO or “traveling” while their teams were being laid off and simply said their direct reports would do all of the work because they “knew the people better”. As a leader, even if you aren’t having the 1-on-1 conversation, you should be there to help support and be present for layoffs within your own group. The executive team also doesn’t take any accountability for the state of the business. Layoffs? Not my department’s fault. No product? Has nothing to do with Engineering. No revenue? It’s because we don’t have a product. While the executive team sticks their head in the sand, the rest of the company floats adrift with no centralized strategy. The direct reports of the executive team do their best to lead their teams, but without a strong, unified executive team, they can’t make much progress.

Pros

Remote working Great colleagues (mostly)

There has just been another round of layoffs which has effected a number of departments globally and no explanations or reasons as to why certain teams/people are being let go. Like previous times, everything is being kept a secret. You are only a number in this company and not respected. Last 12 months has only been about growing engineering teams in India while other teams have lost people that haven't been replaced. Communication is very poor and leadership team are never to be seen except when praising or promoting themselves on social media or at events. Their only concern is how they look and are perceived in the market - not on running the business or looking after employees. All you here is how we are the "Dream Team" and how we are the best in the industry - if you tell yourself something enough times, you'll start to believe it too!

Pros

There are a few really amazing people at GP who know their stuff and do impactful work and then there are the rest who have either been there for a while or were hired for unknown reasons. They let you work remote

Cons

Biggest con is Culture. Hands down the worst culture I have ever experienced. There is no work life balance. Work from early morning to late evening every day. No one cares about you. Truly. Another con is management. Everyone hired is a hero and then once they are not perfect - they become "dead" to management and fired or laid off. The lucky ones are the ones that figure it out and get another job. Us unlucky ones are scratching our heads at what we did wrong. They said it would be fun. There is no fun at this company. I heard that it used to be fun. The company sucks your wellbeing right from you. Not worth the "remote" work. Find a better place.
