Do not provide clean drinking water. I spent my last few months going out every other week and buying 10 gallons of water for our kids and other staff. It was brought up repeatedly and promptly ignored — lost somewhere in the aluminum threads of cyberspace between Peoria and Chicago (or Springfield!). Worried more about making money (not the care of the kids), arbitrary and overly-strict company policy (forcing kids out of the only room with natural light in the building — full of toys — so kids in that program could use that room… While there were no kids in that program… We were forced to keep kids who have been going in there for years to all of a sudden completely stop going into the biggest room in the small building — again, full of toys), company image (offered gift cards for positive reviews from staff), and aesthetics (which is so comical, walk in and you will instantly get hit with a wave of dim, drab, fake-plant depression — that our staff and kids alike know oh too well). I worked with a kid and his family for 14 months. The family had repeatedly told me they were unhappy with the company and the only reason they were still there was because of me and how great I was with the kid. Switched to a remote BCBA (who didn’t update his programs [but probably not their fault, they were definitely overworked]). Something was lost between the aluminum strands of cyberspace from Peoria to wherever in the world this BCBA lived. I get an email one day saying I was being removed effectively. I talked to someone. They were confused on something. They realized they messed up. But they would not backtrack. That kid — who I cared about so much — did not get therapy for months (no other therapists to cover the hours), and I did not work for months (no kids whose hours lined up with mine). The family left. I should have left too.
