Pros

Great company to work for. Looked after well. Lots of smart people to learn from, who are happy to share their time. Certainly requires you to be on the ball and willing to learn, but very rewarding environment if so. Small number of motivated people that achieve a hell of a lot.

Cons

Not always great at communicating company news around, ends up with word-of-mouth. Coffee machine not always reliable!

Pros

Lots of intellectual, friendly, approachable people. Good working environment. Opportunities to learn a lot and get stuck in with different things/projects.

Cons

Some key members of management not in line with the rest of the companies ethos/ values. Contract is unnecessarily heinous.. 3 months notice period AND 3 months non compete (so 6 months wait if you change company, 3 of which unpaid) and overreaching IP constraints. Benefits poor in comparison to the street.

Pros

- Very friendly company staffed by smart people - Beautiful, newly refurbished offices right which are very easy to access from several major tube lines - "Light touch" management that is happy to leave you alone to get things done, once you have earned their trust - Despite steady growth during my tenure, this still a fairly small company where it is possible for your work to a big impact on the bottom line - Opportunity to work with some of the most exciting new technologies

Cons

- Not too much in the way of formal training, though there are plenty of opportunities to learn new things on the job - Can be a little bit compartmentalised: cross-team communication not always the best. (This is to be expected to some extent on the research side of things but there is less an excuse for this on the tech side.)
