Positive experience, but low pay

Pros

They have a very relaxed culture, flexible hours, and the people are GREAT to work with. They have the occasional free food truck, and the office is colorful.

Cons

Pay is significantly lower than at similar-sized firms, and the annual pay increases are very small. Increases are the same across the board, so a top earner will get the same small raise as someone who loses the company money. The "affordable" health insurance option has a very high deductible and doesn't include mental health services.

Couldn't care less about employees

Pros

Free massages and food trucks every once in a while when morale got too low. Great coworkers – couldn't ask for better mates in the trenches.

Cons

Terribly low pay – averaged about $10k less than local industry standard. No work life balance. Overtime pay ended while I was there – even though we were regularly working 50+ hour weeks. Former employees were blacklisted, to the point that we were afraid of management knowing if we kept in contact.

Pros

Flexible and understanding of family emergencies. Somewhat flexible hours. Casual dress code. Health insurance percentage covered by company is high compared to most.

Cons

Horrible pay. Management tries to create friendships then acts in an unprofessional manner in work-related matters. Strong favoritism and preferential treatment for those who keep their head down and don't stand up for themselves. Repercussions for voicing any questions or concerns. Management does not take ownership over shortcomings for the department. No concrete plans for handling vacation coverage, training processes, changes in job requirements. HR does not take complaints and concerns seriously. No opportunities for growth.
