Pros

Many inspiring, impassioned people working here albeit under very unfortunate management and CEO. It's a great place to work for some, but heavily dependent on the team. Some teams aren't around the BS. Also, it's a paycheck. And you get insurance & a 401k match.

Cons

If you want to kill your creative spirit, work here! They have a terrible reputation locally AND in the industry. If Gaia customers only knew how fraudulent they are, how shady the company is, and how they run their business... All they care about is the bottom line, to profit off the mindful movement. They'll woo you with their mission, management will deliver an inspiring speech, and you'll be enticed to work here because you're "changing the world". But it's one of the least mindful companies out there. Most employees leave on terrible terms. Highlights: Bad energy in office, fear-mongering, "butts in seats" mentality, you will be a puppet, high employee turnover, lots of ego..and for what?, you will probably be fired if you don't believe in conspiracy theories About that lifestyle video they put on here... Basically, the CEO said "make a video asap about how great we are". Nobody wanted to speak in it. It's fake propaganda.

Pros

The cafeteria is awesome and the location is pretty good. That's about it.

Cons

Where do I begin.... They lure you in with promises of equity in the company that they then never deliver on. They're supposed to support this so-called enlightened lifestyle but treat their employees like crap. The company president will lie to your face and stab you in the back at the first opportunity. If you're at all critical of the crazy content like Seeking Truth or Wisdom Teachings they will put a target on your back to get rid of you as soon as possible. They're also good at toeing the line between wildly inappropriate to just this side of legal in the performance review. They want you to tell them your affinity for the content, basically they want you to be part of their cult and if you're not then you're out. If you're an engineer they will work you into the ground. The hiring process means they can never hire help for you when you ask for it. The silos of responsibility mean that if you're on your own then you can't ever really take a vacation. Rather than spend money on things that will help their employees they'd rather buy giant crystals to put in the lobby.

Pros

Interesting people, gym, yoga classes, great food, walking trails.

Cons

TL;DR - Don’t work here unless you want to contribute to brainwashing hundreds of thousands of subscribers. If you’re already brainwashed, congratulations, you’re hired! Gaia presents itself as a video streaming service for conscious media to help people live happy and healthy lives. The three "channels" this conscious media is split up into are Yoga, Transformation, and Seeking Truth. Working in the marketing department, it became abundantly clear that the two former channels, Yoga and Transformation, are merely gateways for indoctrinating viewers into the latter, more controversial channel, Seeking Truth. This channel is riddled with insidious content like government conspiracies, secret space program whistleblowers, blue bird-like aliens, and lizard people secretly running the world. The video content is all geared to instill fear and paranoia as to render the viewer incapable of unsubscribing for fear that they may miss some key information that could affect their lives. If you haven’t watched any of Gaia’s Seeking Truth content, just imagine Ancient Aliens but with one-tenth the budget and either an old man talking at you or a smirking used car salesman spewing pseudo-scientific space words at you. I can’t stress enough how dangerous it is propping up these conspiracy theorists with little to no grasp on actual science and presenting their notions as fact. It’s fun imagine these ideas as reality but in the age of ‘alternative facts’, Gaia is doing nothing but making people misguided, unhealthy, and paranoid. When it comes to hiring, upper management has been blunt about only hiring people “in the space” and that “there is no room at Gaia for individuals who reject our mission or feel cynical about our goals...or our content”. This has led to a new policy of having all new hires have a final interview with the owner of the company where they can be vetted for how “in the space” they actually are. Being a yogi is longer good enough to be considered for a position at the company, one needs to have some sort of quirky interest or better yet, be a Gaia subscriber for multiple years. As you can imagine this makes the hiring process very difficult and very long because finding someone who is highly skilled in the job’s responsibilities isn’t nearly enough. More often than not, a candidate's beliefs hold more weight than their ability to perform the desired job successfully.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are always eager to receive feedback and address the areas where we missed delivering an exceptional experience for anyone. I truly regret your experience at Gaia did not match our vision and mission of being an empowering network that invites the evolution of consciousness for all people. Our senior leadership is deeply committed to our mission. I do want to address some of your feedback/concerns, and thank you for the opportunity to do so. First, we are seeking candidates that are equally qualified and interested in expanding consciousness, so that we can fulfill our mission to the highest extent possible. Our CEO and ultimately, entire senior leadership team is critically involved in the hiring process. These efforts are certainly welcome and designed to assist in establishing rapport and open dialogue, while also supporting Gaia's mission. In my experience it is rare to find a key leader that is eager to participate in the recruitment and selection process, and it is a welcome part of our culture. Next, Gaia is going through transition and change as we continue to grow. Change and transition at times can feel uncomfortable. Like any person or company going through growth, change, and expansion, we sometimes hit bumps in the road. We are diligent about moving forward in a positive, light, and loving direction. We are 100% committed to creating a collaborative and conscious environment for all our employees. Our commitment and the resulting positive environment we create will grow as we grow.. I can honestly say I am excited for the future of Gaia. Lastly, communication as we grow is a number one priority. We have many ideas for improving internal communication, and we will continue to execute those. I’m sorry that our efforts failed to meet your expectations. Regarding our areas of interest and focus as an organization... we do push boundaries so that truth and knowledge can be shared with everyone that is open to hearing, listening, and growing. As an organization, we recognize that scientific validation of the information we present is, and always has been, critical to our success and a top priority. We are building content daily that incorporates increasingly scientific and empirical evidence for the material we present to our audience whom we cherish. Thank you again for your feedback. I will certainly continue to work to assist in Gaia’s growth and creation of a positive, bright future, taking your feedback to heart. We will continue to work diligently to support our employees in a positive and bright manner. May you enjoy the very best in your present and future endeavors.
