Becoming Too Corporate

Business outlook

Pros

Remote work and flexible hours

Cons

Some very ineffective leaders who are in over their heads, taking credit and placing blame when they shouldn’t Becoming too corporate, have to really play the political game now and not question poor leadership Most employees deal with unfair pay and confusing, unfair hierarchical structures for growth Frequent reorganizations, can be tough to adjust to new teams, websites and tools Stressful and competitive work environment, constant worry about being laid off Very poor diversity, was once in a meeting with 40 men and 0 women, very few people of color except low-level Costa Rica employees Treated poorly when you get laid off, no matter how much you’ve done for the company, kicked out the door immediately with basically a “good riddance”, unfair lowball severance, late payments, poor communication

Pros

Free Vegas holiday. Some computer stuff they will rent you. But you will have to send it back at your own expense to America.

Cons

I mean the "SEO guru" lives in Costa Rica, half their team is cheap labor, and the CCO/COO offshore "SEO expertise" it's hilariously bad. Daily standups listening to someone who doesn't understand SEO, while they pay him tax-free dollars living in another country. Gambling.com is a farce! ha!

Pros

- GDC Group is consistently hiring, so if you're out of work it's an option to get back on your feet - Employment is remote if that is a priority for you

Cons

- Strongly suspect positive reviews on here are coming from bots/non-employees. Note how many 5-star reviews talk in vagueries and have zero negatives to list about the company - There is a lack of empathy and tact from upper management which creates a rot within the company - During my time at GDC Group, the head of digital news content and media was someone who did 99% of the talking in every meeting they were involved with. They also habitually interrupted and talked over direct reports. This led to a ripple effect of folks noticing this behavior from their boss and assuming interrupting others is permissible behavior - On often no notice, this department head would schedule meetings lasting in excess of two hours. As alluded to above, this manager would do the entirety of the talking through these meetings. This not only crushed morale of those who'd hoped to join a collaborative workplace but would impede their ability to get actual work done during the day - Workflows are needlessly complex with zero instruction documented. When pointing this out, entry-level employees were informed they should take it upon themselves to create the documentation - GDC Group's PTO allotment and 401K package were inferior to competitors within the iGaming/legal sports betting space. GDC Group also provided no holiday bonuses or incentive pay for work that went above and beyond the job description - In an attempt to motivate employees, management would gush over certain projects that would bring the company millions of dollars, but pass none of it down to workers
