I worked at GameStop part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Management, hours, expectations, training, pay.

    Cons

I was warned against ever going into management, but I feel this may have just been one managers personal experience than an actual common feeling.

    I worked at GameStop full-time

    Pros

Work in a field that is constantly changing and always exciting, with like minded people

    Cons

Same as most retail jobs, massive disconnect between head office directives and what actually occurs in stores

I have been working at GameStop part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I work at the EB Games in southeast melbourne Really relaxed atmosphere

    Cons

Must be customer service focused - not really a con, as I thoroughly enjoy it Can be really busy sometimes - again, not necessarily a con Can get some really rude, pushy customers (I am one of the only girls in the store so I deal with it a lot)

I have been working at GameStop

    Pros

    - reasonable discounts - pretty cruisy job

    Cons

    - can get overworked - enjoyment heavily depends on management - at times you do not get paid for hours worked

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at GameStop full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Knowledge gained during time there was invaluable for retail experience. If you have a good team, everything is easier (and a great deal more enjoyable). Events like "Starlight Week" and some of the other staff-run events throughout the year can be fun.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations of targets and goals. Upper management sometimes would often lose sight of day-to-day operations. Even one negative member of your team can cause serious problems for store moral, and upper management do not make it easy for store managers to actually control their own stores.

    I worked at GameStop

    Pros

    - great co workers - games to play from conferences before selling - customers are great - fast paced

    Cons

    - bully middle management - scare tactics - long unpaid over time hours - poor pay - no proper training - felt like I was in high school with constant bullying - no $ to put casual staff on resulting in no lunch breaks - favouritism - no chance of progressing

I worked at GameStop for more than a year

    Pros

The people you work with on the floor are always friendly and share the same interests. Great pay for a retail job as well.

    Cons

Usually have to start early and stay back late if opening or closing, which you are not payed for. Upper management usually don't care about your problems or understand how a store runs, BUT will grill you about KPIs, even when they can sometimes be unrealistic. Sometimes made to work a full day alone, possibly with a 3 hour lunch cover.
