I have been working at Garmin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company culture, wonderful work environment, great diversity of products to work on, good work/life balance and benefits.

    Cons

Almost too many products to ensure being the best in class for every product category, at least with the economical offerings.

    Advice to Management

Focus on core strengths to develop the best products for each product category, perhaps at the expense of hitting every price point in each category?

I worked at Garmin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pros: Great management experience that really helped me learn.
    - Coworkers are great and the dress code is very lax.
-I had to get surgery in the middle of the summer that I was there and they accommodated my needs very well.

    Cons

People speak of little upward mobility but for a summer seasonal position, there is not really that concern.
Customers can be hard to work with but Garmin tries to put every resource available in front of you to help you.

I have been working at Garmin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good base pay out of college, great work life balance

    Cons

Yearly raises lag, hard to significantly increase pay without leaving. "Bonuses" are a joke, $200 a year no matter how the company is doing.

I have been working at Garmin full-time

    Pros

one of the best facilities, and the most driven atmosphere I've experienced.

    Cons

It's not very central to the KC area, but not too bad a drive for most.

I have been working at Garmin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work life balance. Interesting work on interesting products. Never expected to say late or work more than 40 hours. Great 401k, ESPP and benefits! Great long-term job.

Company is expanding into new markets and growing a lot = job security.

    Cons

Low turnover rate means it can be difficult to transfer internally.

    I worked at Garmin full-time

    Pros

Great culture. Great work-life balance. Great benefits. They have really great people working there and produce really cool products.

    Cons

Despite Garmin’s great benefits, they aren’t always willing to pay a person what they’re worth. Simply compare your salary to the national average. Or worse, compare your salary to what you’d make on the east or west coast. They also don’t incentivize people to excel with a obvious bonus structure. The people that are passionate about their jobs will always do a good job, but others will see this as an excuse to come in and do the bare minimum. Can be frustrating. BUT! This also reduces the “dog-eat-dog” impulse that can be present in other companies.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing a good job!
