Pros

The product is solid with significant levels of technology and high quality. European level driving dynamics with bold styling.

Cons

If only the experience working at Genesis is as good as their products. The company has elected to hire weak, hypocritical, and abusive leaders. The current Genesis President/CEO is abusive and consistently threatens to fire the team if his will is not met. Not surprising for a person who is dealing with strong allegations for being engaged in abusing his wife and other egregious behavior. Poorly qualified associates are rapidly promoted, disregarding HR policies so they can check a “BOX” - yet qualified, dedicated, and competent employees are dismissed and not promoted with no good reason. HR is hypocritical with inconsistent executing their own policies yet are unable to justify their actions reflecting a hidden agenda. Exceptions for some because they are “special” while the competent are abused and dismissed. This is a demoralizing and hostile work environment that any accomplished professional should avoid. Consider the product but avoid working here!!

Pros

I was very excited to join this company. The product is very good and the original vision was also exciting. I felt at first I was a part of a team that was going to make a real competitive luxury brand, and make waves in the industry. It is a lot more work versus others in the space (we handle sales, parts and service vs just one profit center like other manufacturers have) however being a part of a new luxury brand is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The field team as well as some at HQ are very well-versed people. As a team we all get along very well. We all have our strengths and help each other out when needed. It is an honor to be on a good team. Great overall product, as well as neat future products planned. The company as a whole and our parent company also handled the coronavirus issue well.

Cons

Things really started to go downhill beginning in 2020. Plans shifted, we got new upper management in US HQ. Some of these upper management are from a failing brand which also has somewhat of a luxury wing. They have brought over failed policies which have not only hurt the brand, the retailers and our relationships. There is very little planning, everything is put together last minute. There has also been a huge drawback in support overall as far as trying to sell vehicles and also service our customers. Advertising has also been cut and is also not very well planned out. We have a new vehicle coming out in the next month and there has been very little advertising done as well as very little overall planning for launch as compared to other manufacturers with a brand new vehicle. Leadership is very dismissive of some peoples efforts and have had made comments and official meetings of people being “lazy”, the field and some people in US HQ does far more work than others in the same position. US Leadership also tells us to do more with less. We are selling premium cars out of in most cases older small Hyundai dealerships not exactly premium. Leadership does not seem to understand that people who want to buy premium cars want an overall premium experience which the field team and some at HQ has tried to do with very little support. Leadership has shown very little dealer body planning which overall is hurting the brand and our retailer who are truly dedicated. One thing I fear is people in HQ and in the field team are becoming very disillusioned, they feeling like their efforts no longer matter and some are going to start going to other opportunities. We truly do have a good well-versed team from all sorts of backgrounds and truly want to succeed which for a team of over 20 people is hard to get. They are some managers higher than my position have also stressed that US HQ leadership does not want to hear from them or their ideas. We are told that we cannot report on certain economic factors as they do not want to hear it. This is dangerous, you cannot treat the whole country as a monolith. Each region, each area, and each city is different. It seems like US HQ leadership does not want to acknowledge this and does not listen to people who have far more experience than them in certain areas. Very close minded.

Pros

Fast paced, supportive co-workers, great product

Cons

Senior Management / Director does not support the team and neutralizes any morale or development. The ambiguity sounds great but the Senior Group and Director do not motivate nor appreciate what you do. They have an “all man for themself” philosophy. Communication is a “2” on a scale to 10 overall to the Field and to the Dealerships. The upper management asks for your feedback and then issues disparaging remarks to discourage speaking up. When you do voice feedback they ignore you while trying to convincing you why you’re wrong. Too many secrets and personal agendas by management that feel they are better than those they manage. No real support during the extreme bad cold weather that came over us and the Nation while other companies did offer help. The Senior Group management, Director and above are two faced and do not care about the employees
